Code: (Change Path)

-UserDir:path

Specifies the directory where the users game directory is. If the default subdirectories of "Regions\", "Plugins\", and "HTTPCache\" arn't found, then it creates an instance of, (in the case of Regions, it copies the default set over). The default game data directory defaults to being the same directory as the game installation directory. Quotes are necessary if the path name has spaces. Make sure there is a "\" on the end of your path or it creates directories like "testPlugins\" and "testRegions\"

For the full text of all the command line options, have a look here.

If you are careful, you can use this option to have several different game environments.

This can be done with the -UserDir:[path] parameter in the SC4 shortcut.

Information to use this can be found here: http://www.wiki.sc4devotion.com/index.php?title=Shortcut_Parameters#User_Dir

Yeah, but just make sure to leave a space after the preceding parameter in the target command line and put a dash ( - ) in front of UserDir (like this: -UserDir:[file path] ).

This didn't work it just re-created the same folder I had deleted from C drive in My Documents... the short cut line has:

    "H:\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CPUCount:1 -intro:off -w -UserDir:H:/SimCity 4/Plugins -CustomResolution:enabled

It's windows, so you need to do backslashes (\) for a file path. That might be why it's not working correctly.

The path needs to be surrounded by "s

    "H:\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CPUCount:1 -intro:off -w -UserDir:"H:\SimCity 4\Plugins\" -CustomResolution:enabled

    should work.

Hey!  That's not how it works.  You have to redirect the entire directory not just a file.  The parameter must end with a backslash (\).  Did you carefully read that quote I posted?

If you want to load only Plugins somewhere else it requires using shortcuts (links) to make that happen.  I can do that easily on my Linux system, and you should be able to do the same using NTFS.  Try this:

    1. Move your Plugins folder to the desired drive.
    2. Access the folder using Windows Explorer
    3. Right click on the folder and request a link (shortcut) be created.
    4. Move the shortcut to the default position for the Plugins folder in your SC4 structure.

Now, when the system goes to access C:\<your account>\SimCity 4\Plugins it will find the link and hop to the other drive seamlessly.

This is nothing new.  MS seems to have split links (shortucts) into several categories these days, but it shouldn't matter if you use the system properly,  Note that move is not copy.  It is a cut/paste operation.

    Remove the -userdir parameter.
