Super Smash Bros is undeniably one of the best fighting franchises of all time, and there's a new game on the way for the Wii U and 3DS.   I'm hyped. I cannot wait for its release.

So this thread will be for sharing your favorite Smash Bros moments of glory (or defeat)

And I also included a poll on which of the newcomers you're most looking forward to seeing.

Greninja, Mega Man, and Rosalina. This is my most-anticipated game of the year.

First off I hate to break it to you, but Smash Bros. Is not considered a fighting game due to the presentation, items, mechanics, and easy of play.

Smash Bros. is considered to be a party game targeted at casuals.

Secondly I've already played the demo of both games, during the Best Buy demo event.

The speed is close to Smash for the Wii U version and the 3DS version is slower like Brawl.

Greninja is super agily and fast.

Though I played as Villager in the Wii U version.

I cannot remember who I played in the 3DS version.

Both games are distinctly different and all the characters haven't been revealed...

Lastly I cannot wait to get the $100 Wii U game bundle with the GC controller adapter and controller.

I'll end up with both games.

I'm pretty sure it is a fighting game because the cover of Brawl proudly displays the fact that it won "Fighting Game of the Year" for 2008 and 2009. But who knows?

Anyway, in the poll, I voted for Mega Man, Lucina, Robin, and Palutana.

And my new avatar is Mr Saturn from the new game.

There's another question: do you guys plan on purchasing the game for the Wii U, 3DS, or both?

I plan on getting it for the Wii U. Smash Bros. + HD graphics = yes.

My brother and I are teenagers, so we'll do multiplayer on the Wii U version. I will get the 3DS version for myself.

And now, a smash bros moment of fame from me:

I'm at my brother's friend's house playing Brawl. We're on a custom stage, two elevated platforms, with a wall in the middle because they were different in height. So the matchup is this: Fox, Marth (me), Ganondorf, and Sheik. Ganondorf warlock punches, Marth counters, Ganondirf goes flying, he hits Fox's bomb (intended for Sheik), he goes flying off the screen.

That match ended when my brother found out Marth couldn't get up to the higher platform, and his friend said "either you go down and fight, or I turn the Wii off". I actually did win this round. Yay me.

    Both!

They literally are two very different games.

Both games have exclusive features and levels.

3DS is more single player focused.

I'm glad I purchased a WiiU for Pikmin 3 :) now I'll be able to get this game and get more fun out of my new console.

I've played all of the other Super Smash Bros. games :) they were awesome. I hope this one is even better.

A demo for the Japanese version of Super Smash Bros. 3DS has been released on the Japanese eShop. Only five characters are available and the gameplay is limited, but it does give users a taste of what the final product will be like. Currently, nothing has been announced about demos for the North American or European eShops, but the possibility is still exciting.

I received four download codes for the demo before it goes public on the eShop for achieving "Platinum" status on Club Nintendo. Does anyone want one?

    No...

It is a video game made up of mainly Nintendo characters from Nintendo's franchises.

The only two non Nintendo characters are Pac-man and Sonic.

The full roster is below ;)

And Mega Man. Despite most of his earlier games appearing on Nintendo consoles, Mega Man is owned by Capcom.

    I forgot about him

And Little Mac.  At least, I think so.

Little Mac is from the Nintendo series Punch Out!!

The series was rebooted on Wii had mediocre sales, but was pirated 9x more than it sold.

I officially have had the Wii U version.

    The good:

    • Controls are fully customizable in the controller menu
    • All the controllers compatible with Wii U including GC (via an one of the two adapters)
    • The graphics are 1080p and look stellar
    • The frame rate is a steady 60FPS (no slow downs)
    • Nearly every mode is Co-op, including classic.
    • Amiibo support for those who want them
    • Off TV play!
    • The oodles of unlockables
    • The oodles of levels
    • The oodles of items
    • The oodles of music
    • The oodles of customization
    • The ability to use a 3DS as a controller (only VIA the 3DS Smash game)
    • Ability to transfer custom characters
    • New level editor
    • The ability to access Miiverse and post screenshots
    • The ability to access a master piece game on the eShop from within the game
    • The difficult select is back
    • Others stuff...

    The Bad:

    • having to unlock all the characters in the Wii U version (only applies if you have the 3DS game since launch)
    • Getting lost due to have more than 4 players on the screen at once
    • Others probably that I found yet

    The ODD:

    • Classic mode has

      5-8 player battles

    • The curved levels
    • Knowing the prizes certain characters have in Classic
    • Shiny damage meter color (don't care for this)
    • Other stuff I haven't discovered yet.

    I haven't played online yet...

I've only played for 2 hours tonight.

I also received a cardboard Smash Champion belt and Pokemon poster for going to Gamestop midnight launch.

I have a Villager Amiibo which I posted in the Amiibo thread.

Don't forget to register both the 3DS and Wii U versions on Club Nintendo to get the Soundtrack and Mewtwo (this spring for him).

Just picked it up today after school, but I haven't had the chance to play yet. Hopefully my best friend can come over tomorrow so we can try out multiplayer.

I'm still working on finishing up achievements in the 3DS version and do not (yet) own a Wii U. As it stands I currently intend to wait until after the new year to even think about the Wii U version of the game. Methinks Nintendo released the games too close together. More like 6 months would have been ideal, this way everyone can have calmed down about version A before they take on version B. I seem to recall a while back the 3DS version had a "summer 2014" release date, so this may have been originally intended. But I suppose if the 3DS version had to be delayed I can't blame them for not also delaying the Wii U version since they obviously wanted that to be a hot Christmas item.

3DS version was intended for summer, but Sakurai needed more time to debug the game.

The Wii U version was always scheduled for holiday 2014!

Nintendo regularly gets criticized for not releasing games fast enough and having too big of gaps between releases.

The press and gamers are already complaining about the lack of a major release in December from Nintendo (Obviously Captain Toad doesn't count).

You can buy a refurbish Wii U from Nintendo's online store for $200, it comes with Nintendoland.

Many of those who bought them, said the system are new.
