Hello!

I like to play my cities as suburban/rural high wealth. I'm very much for aesthetics and I dislike the low wealth aesthetics ...is there a to set community jobs to medium and high wealth only?

I find when I create these cities they run fine except for the schools, the dump, and transportations like the train or ferry who require low wealth to work :/

here's a small chart on job levels

http://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/108399/what-type-of-buildings-offer-what-level-of-jobs?rq=1

is there a way to alter this and change the levels?

thank you

You always need low wealth residential to work with almost every buildings in the city. I suggest that you make a low wealth city that also provide power, water, garbage, sewage treatment and could commute to your high wealth cities for jobs.

You can build the Edificio Copan landmark for 1200 low wealth workers. They building looks pretty good in a medium/high wealth city. It's usually enough to satisfy low wealth worker need for most utilities.

Alternative, you can build the arcology great work. It can supply 20000+ low and medium wealth workers, which should be enough for any industrial city. You just need bus stops to make sure those 40k workers don't end up destroying your local traffic.

The only way I find efficient in solving your problem is by setting up sister city that provide low wealth residential and dirty industry (as this helps with producing goods), and also basic services like sewage, power and garbage. For water I like to set each city independently unless I need the space. One thing to remember though, only a third or half of your low wealth population will commute to work in the region. This having experience it myself although good train, fery, or bus terminals. Don't know about you guys though. In the medium and highwealth cities I like to focus on tech and specialize in education and/or tourism (not much of a gambler :P). Hope this help.

That's true, only a 10% or less of unemployed workers will commute to the other cities in my experience. I'm yet still to master how to balance vs zoning in my Mining specialization that takes a lot of low wealth workers.

The best way to do this in my opinion is too focus getting the proccessing plant fpralloy. After you get it, don't bother in mining coal and ore. The lot size forthose two are ridiculous. Simply import them. As for residence, one way to dothis is by placing your low wealth and perhaps medium wealth residence in clusters and provide multiple road connections to job site e.g. plants and mines. Transportation preferably not longer than 25-30 minutes with bus in and around your city.

now that's some insight i have to experiment with. It's hard to manage the upkeep of buildings with low wealth tax revenue as well as monthly import but I'll give it a try. Less workers means less traffic (that's a plus) as well as less tax revenue (the negative). (i dont play sandbox tho)

those are good ideas...I vaguely remember doing that in SC4.

I have yet to play around with work sites and delve into the productions of mining and trading...
