Strange game bug with some custom content

Lately, as I've slowly been rebuilding my plugins folder, I've noticed that some seemingly innocent BAT's cause an odd bug in which the game will skip the intros after the Maxis screen, load to a completely blank region, with no text (all buttons are there, but blank, including the list of regions, the options button, and the quit game dialogue. I've also noticed that each time this happens, the game adds a new folder in my regions folder titled (1), (2), (3), as well as Timbuktu (1), timbuktu (2), etc. for each time the game unsuccessfully starts. (No other regions get copied).

Usually, a single building that I'd added to my plugins before starting is the culprit, and removing it's files completely fixes the issue. That doesn't seem to be the case this time, though.

Anyone have a clue as to what's going on?

Ah, this is the same problem I had that I commented on in this post: 

 

I had first noticed this problem when I had spent a year not playing the game, but still picking up plugins.  When I first loaded the game with a 3 gb plugin folder it did the same thing you observed.  I assumed it was a glitched plugin, but after intensive testing discovered that it was related to how large my plugins folder was.
