Technicium Power and Return Plant

This is the thread for an upcoming elemental-based BAT, one of a future large and scattered series.

I will explain it all later. However I permit myself to tell you that basically its a power plant that, while fissioning synthetically-created technicium to other elements/isotopes, it will creat a decent amount of power from its radioactivity. Thus there is power- without losing any/much resources outside of water, which will be used as an emergency coolant. Here is my first picture. Any ideas?

The observation/main computers tower (the only rooms with windows) will go on the base to the right. I am going to have semi-wrap around room halls come out of the observation/comp. tower, come around to the bottom-left and top-left, where there will be testing units.

And don't mind my chemistry above- it may be very wrong. But it is a theory I can devellop to fit the purpose mentioned above- getting power by simply reconverting elements.

HELP: How do I cut windows into cylinders?!?!?!?!?

Please give input. Thanks!

Note- These are going to be huge, unless I shrink them. 8x9 with extensions on top and bottom.

As you can see, I shrunk the base of the control tower. I have added 1, and only 1, nitelite. Notice how the roof of the control tower is bleached? It is suppsoed to be a nice steel texture, but SC4 lighting is messed. I will use somehting darker and more drastic.

Once again, how do you approach putting windows into round objects?

    Please leave feedback.

    Thanks

Stupid jpegs, you can hardly see the wire at night.

Note that the transformer (focus in bottom pic) has a bit of work left.

Also note that this may and probably will not be the layout. However this will be a vital component, and will 100% definately be somewhere in the BAT.

Well, feedback? This must be a poor title, its not getting many views. Please leave some feedback and/or ideas.

    Thanks

Well, the Plant is nearing export time. IT needs texturing on the halls, more detail on the surface of the transforming facilities (sky blue boxes) and the smoke stack and chemical testing pod. I will probably add ground construction and safety areas to the base (BAT not lot). Then, of course, the multitude of night-lighting to come.

Here is what I have, other than that:

AS you can see, I've ditched the wraparound halls for a more futuristic and appealing look. Also note that the BOTTOM LEFT transformer will be DELETED. In its place will go either a smoke stack or a construction/safety area.

I hope I will get some feedback before prerelease update 2.gif

OK... I will be busy for about 2 weeks, but in the meantime there is a dilemna here. Cjah sais he wants a construction area on the left where the spare transformer is, but I now think that the smoke stack would best go here, and the construction area on the bottom right. What do you all think?

Hi my friend, that's a nice signature you have!3.gif Now let's get serious... I did windows on a curved wall using... well, it's not 100% a new technique. What I did is a solid shape window in a cube then boolean substraction. The shape it gives, you can choose how many segment high/wide/long. These segments are used as pivot point for the bend tool... So you can have one great window on a curve with 12 sides (= number of segments in your shape). For what I wanted to do (that will probably be in my next update), I did an array clone too since I wanted more than 1 window.

Well, if I have a little time, I'll try to make a small tutorial like the last time.

BTW, your project is interesting and I wonder what you'll do with textures. The one you use actually are in Maxis style!

    See you later. Bye!

thats some nice work youve got going on - cant believe ive missed it before. i would like a stack there myself. but thats just me i guess 2.gif your style reminds of hdrokker (sorry for the spellng i know its not right) very futuristic imo. which is a good thing ^_^

zmveliger: yea a tutorial would be nice. that idea sounds intriguing and i'd like a more indepth walkthrough of it.. with pictures.... i like pictures 2.gif

That looks really interesting. I'd put as much of the technical powerplant stuff in as possible-the lot looks a little empty in back, but then there has to be a way to access the facility. A gate with some sort of checkpoint or guard shack would be cool to see.
