I know that when you have a lot of pollution from industry located near a waterfront, all the water turns brown. But since I'm working on riverside industry, is there a way that I could prevent the river from turning brown? Thanks in advance!

You can reduce pollution with water purification plants which are included in the default game.  Sometimes it takes more than one.

Ultimately, you could opt for a high tech based industry. If you are after the dirty ones, do as Moose said. If there will be some ports, there are great eye candy only warehouses, docks etc. available to download.

Not all of the CDK3 set from Pegasus is eye-candy.  Many of the lots have jobs.

All right, thanks for the help guys! I'll try a water treatment plant and hopefully that will keep water pollution down.

There are some more WPP lots on the STEX - most which are more compact than the Maxis one.
