Hi i am wondering if anyone can help me with a problem?, i recently downloaded the "canalside mills" by ILL Tonkso and as you can see in the image people have been using this successfully without problems.

However i am finding that everytime i try to plop this building my came crashes.

So i am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and also if anyone can help solve this problem?.

Big thanks for any help.

You clearly have a conflict somewhere in plugins.  If you really want to have this it will be necessary for you to resolve it.  How big is your plugins suite?

We'll try to help, but with custom content we are all on our own.

Hi Nonny well at the moment my plugin folder is 5.10 GB, i originally tried it in an empty site next to my city then on an empty map as well still no go.

Strangely enough even with ALL that stuff in there this seems to be pretty much the only problem child i have at the moment :) , everything else seems to be working just fine......actually no i do have a problem with brown boxes showing

up at certain zoom levels but not others on the washington mall byYugio, but other than that.....

Do you have this problem with all the lots or only one (or a few)? Usually, game crashing when you plop a lot is triggered by absence of the building exemplar that is referenced by the lot exemplar, or a possible conflict of 2 building exemplars sharing the same IID.

Have you tried with nothing else than the canalside mills in your plugins folder? Knowing that the mod works would be a good start and ensure that the building exemplars are not missing.

As for detecting possible conflicts, the quicker method is to do the binary search method. If you find a conflict, you'll have to check with reader that the IDs are different. If not, you'll have to generate a new one.

That is a rather large plugin suite.  Is it cleaned up of garbage files such as documentation and illustrations?  They are skipped by the loader but since each has to be read to find out if it is a plugin file or not, it does slow down your loading time.  Any junk files should be kept in a documentation folder somewhere.  Any file with an extension of .sav can be safely deleted.

Are you doing a CJ?  If not, why do you have so much stuff?  How can you possibly use it all?

Lol ok lets see Magneto at the moment this is the only lot that this happens with, though i did have a similar  problem Center for the performing arts in washington Dc by Yoder on SC4 Devotion, though that was happening everytime i tried to plop it after i had already built roads ect, once i figured that out i bulldozed the roads around where i wanted to plop it plopped it THEN put the roads in and all was ok, but considering i tried the Canalside Mills on an empty map we know that is not the problem lol.

Emptying my pluggins is next on my list to try see how that goes.

Nonny, yea i remove all the crap such as pics ect before i put anything in my pluggins folder because i don't need it, though now that you mention it i DO have a couple of files that are  .sav  but only because i did not know i could safely delete them, thought that they where needed for the buildings they came with.

Yea i know that is a lot! lol, thought about a CJ but my cities are not good enough for that :( , but yea i do use it all amazingly lol....currently i have a region based on a map of India with five cities plus farms small towns ect, one on a enlarged Philippines map with similar numbers ect in an asian style, a map of Lagos that i am building a UK style city on and also a Kaohsiung map i am building a city based on Melbourne on all in various stages of completion.

I like to do a few keeps me from getting bored :kitty:, plus a few other ideas i am thinking about to lol.

Wow.  You have a better memory that I.  I could never keep track of all that even though I run several regions at the same time (not simultaneously) for variety.  I hope you have it all well organized.  Somehow I manage to get along with around 1 GB of plugins and try to hold it at that.

This business of having to construct stuff in order is one I often run into.  Some lots lock the surrounding grid, so have to be placed last.  A good example of this is the ped mall tiles.  They have to be dead last if you are building, say, a transit plaza.

It's something to do with rotating the lot before plopping it. For some reason it does that to me. If I don't rotate using PgUp or PgDn then it keeps on keeping on.
