These are my cities; Tamarin Island, Jaguar Ridge, and Touscan Valley. I'll concentrate on Tamarin Island for this journal.

Tamarin Island was my first city. Space was a little limited and you have to plan really well to have it developed into a good city. It was a perfect city initially until the nuclear meltdown and i have half of the island almost cannot be used. All three zones will not work in a radioactive environment. That's when i was devastated and claimed the other two cities since it was abandoned by previous mayor (while thinking of solutions to help my tourism island)

This is how bad the radioactive affecting the island.

What i did was to plot as many trees as possible to help in reducing the radiation. I learned that it will takes the 20 years game times to clear each radiation zone level, so i will ended up waiting for 80 years games time to completely having the radiation removed. All commercial and residential is very badly affected.

Instead i build some recycle plant, plastic processing and such to generate some income. So the island is pretty much half tourism and half industrial.

Water was badly polluted as well and i have to shift the water pump to a cleaner location. The default water filter comes with a basic pump which is pumping unfiltered water to the city; anyone know how i can abolished the basic pump which keeping the filter pump still working? I have not try if i could just shut the pump without shutting the entire plant down though.

Ground pollution was pretty bad too!

Surprisingly i still have some green smiley faces on the island and believe me they are keen to expand as well. Weird though. I mean if in reality, the island could have been isolated. i guess they left with no choice but to stay put. I have never come across and isolated island though unless you don't plot any RCI zones. Will it works? Hmmmm..

I'll share my other two cities in my next posting. Enjoy and love to hear your comments.

I found the cure to my radiation, that's provided that you have the Cities of Tomorrow (COT) expansion pack. All you need is to build the ground scrubber, and it will suck out the pollution within hours better than waiting for months to get it clear off. Will post the outcome from the cities after the installation of COT later tonight.

Welcome to the CJ forum. It will be interesting to see if you can take the city out of its radioactive hell.

Thanks for the comment, Benedict. As promised, attached are the images of the solutions to radiation in the city (if you have Cities of Tomorrow expansion pack).

and its extracting the radiation pretty fast without wait for long hours of games play but once it's clear off the radiation and ground pollution, the only thing suffer is the air pollution. If you have to build the ground scrubber to resolve the radiation, make sure you check your wind, and that it doesn't blow towards your residential, commercial zones, or they get sick.

I'll post more after tonight play. Enjoy.

The situation is much improved and the radiation is almost gone. Just left with a few more sections to clear.

And this give me hope and opportunity to rebuild the city as a tourism island again.

    Updates:

After radioactivity has been cleared out slowly, I started to work on the part of the city that has been heavily polluted by the radioactive and turn them into future city. Lots of futuristic activities going on there though there are still a fair bit of radioactivity that need to be cleared off or i will never get the crowd. I have isolated the old town and i am seeing the crowd leaving the cities. I'll take some screen shots when i am back on the game.

i wish SimCity could allocate me the entire island. I got a quarter of land not being possible to access. I wish i could have till the bridge. There be more to build.

Yes, I did. I stayed on this scene for a while to count how long does it take for the bus to arrive and pick up the passenger and the road is pretty quiet. Probably not Sunday.

Oh my. It is a solid year since I last visited here and ever since SimCity introduces the offline version, I have been playing it offline. I'll try to post some picture back again when I am more free or have more time. Now work has been catching up on me. Thanks for following. Will have some good news soon.
