Progress with Boston-based firm for DARPA.

 

These are military application machines.  Great care in programming is clearly needed here.  First postulate: A robot shall not kill a human being.

 

Imagine practically invulnerable machines romping around killing people.  It is our worst nightmare.

Yet that is exactly what the military wants. What do you think the next generation of drones is going to be about? Self controlled flight, IFF and most definitely the ability to take the shot at a moment it deems most opportune.

I can't help but foresee a greater incidence of friendly fire incidents. Regardless, it is quite amazing technology, and certainly has a lot of excellent uses besides those of the military.
