Stopping Density

It is a fact that if we do not change the size of a street or an avenue when requested, a building or even a block will not grow.

Now, the way to stop the density growth is to remove the green or blue or yellow line shown under any building,

when creating a specific zone.

Removing that line is like erasing the zone, so the building will not grow or will stop growing until we decide

to make it bigger, simply by "rezoning" when putting back that line.

It allows to increase the size of the streets or avenues anytime, without having the buildings growing sometimes too fast,

creating problems such as unemployment or unfilled jobs.

Problems that need to be under control all the time.

Hope it helps.

Dezoning. a person from maxis showed this and it has since really made my cities better. It allows you to only densify when you want to in a slower fashion therefor you can handle the increase in growth alot easier. Build up your transit and utilities etc. before the traffic hits hard. So far I think the most important things are lost of large avenues, streetcars, and the large fire station for hazmat trucks, other than that if education is good health and police are not too important. Also always remember to have a trade depot with rail yard or port so that if you need to build a power plant to import material you can import through the depot so trucks don't disappear in the regional freeway. Or build nuclear plant if and only if you gots an educated peoples

Don't put industry on high density streets.  High density industry has hazmat fires (medium and low do not have them) which are hard to fight until you have a university and research the hazmat firefighting tech.
