Need some tips: how to prevent bankruptcy

Hello,

I'm just building my first city in CitiesXL Platinum and while it seems to be going OK, I'm getting some warnings about near bankruptcy.
Have tried to stick very close to the border so as not to spend too much on roads; have made a Utility Center, some housing, some offices, a farm and a city hall.
Current population is 5,000 residents.

I'd really appreciate some help and tips on:
- how to make my city successful
- how to prevent bankruptcy
- how do I get some money to solve the bankruptcy problem

Thanks in anticipation.

You can get money by trading with OmniCorp.

In trading, you use "tokens" that represent how much of a resource you have in your city.

If you have other cities, you can trade with them instead of OmniCorp.

You get to the Trading menu by clicking on the XL button in the top left corner, and then clicking on the button with the blue and orange triangles. (Or arrows, whatever)

That's always the good strategy.

But be warned, no one ever posts here.

Unfortunately, XLNation seems to be down for the moment but I can give some tips. Start your first city as an agricultural-centric town. You will want to build farms on all your fertile lands. If your city even has a tiny section with water, you can get almost infinite water utilizing the pause cheat. But only do that once you have gone to -1 water after utility center has been placed. On the borders of your farms (just outside the fertile areas), build your unskilled worker zones. --Ocram

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

The pause cheat allows the user to place as many city links as desired and cover the entire area of Water, oil Fuel, or Holidays with buildings that exploit them. Careful with placing too many Holiday Hotels, they can go bankrupt.

Okay.

I actually wouldn't really call that a cheat, more as a part of the game that Focus completely overlooked (as always), or an exploit.

On second thought, an exploit is a cheat, so nevermind...
