Hi guys I bourght the new Simcity game on the release date but I've been having a lot of issues trying to get it to play. I've registered the game and tried multiple servers. I suspect it's probably related to the settings but I don't understand half the stuff there and I don't have the slightest clue how to set it properlly. Nevertheless I've mucked around with it a bit, trying to get it to work and now I can't even remember the default settings, lol. Anyway I've written everything down and hopefully someone will be able to point out the cause of the problem. Btw I'm running this on a windows vista, which I understand isn't the best computer around for video games...

    Bump.

To expand on the issues the buildings dissapear, reappear, I get all of these strange shadows, the screen constantly looks like areas have been cut out, then they'll re-appear as well. The few times when I've been able to start a city, the game frequently pauses and usually crashes within like 5 mins.

What do you mean? I'm not the most computer literate person out there.

I have a Windows Vista XPS 14z, which is fairly new since I only got it last year. I think it has a NVIDIA thing but I'm not sure.

XPS 14Z came out 2011, and had Windows 7 not Vista. If you have vista, are you sure you have 14Z? Because since 2010 everything was coming new with W7.

Minimum they came with 6GB ram and minimum Intel i5-2430M which I believe you are fine.

But, it has Nvidia 520M with 1GB Ram or Intel HD 3000.

Given that spec, if you have Intel HD3000 you can't play that game. If you have 520M you have to set everything  LOW.

My laptop has 555M and works only on medium/low, with i7 at 1080p.

(GTX570 & overclocked T1090 on home pc everything is set high at 120hz with 3D glasses).

But check your graphic card please.
