Nope, but you have the right idea - you need to go west.  Since points aren't awarded for states, I'll tell you that this place isn't on the continental US.  That limits it to a maximum of two states.

That is correct.  Although it had already be said, a good habit to get into is also mentioning the continent that it is located on.

    Fragmentation,
Sometimes Waldo goes to places that are REALLY easy!

I did actually miss the destination stops on the side of the bus.  However, Waldo does sometimes go to really recognizable destinations.

This one should likewise be pretty easy to figure out the location.  However, the bonus points may be a little bit harder.

    2. How old was his wife when she died?
    3. What were the dates of construction and how many people (laborers) worked on constructing it ?
    4. What mineral is it made out of?

    *Opens up website with answers*

According to the web page that I am looking at, the guy's wife was older than that when she died.  Also, construction didn't take 20 years.  If you can show me a website where you found this, or a book or something, I'll think it over, but right now, I can't award the points for that in good faith.

You'll get the points for numbers 1 & 4, and you have the number of workers correct in number three, but there isn't a statute for awarding half-credit.  Hence, I'm going to add a rule.
    • A question must be answered completely for credit to be awarded.
If you can show a website that supports your answers for questions 2 & 3, and I feel that the website I looked up the answers on is wrong, I will award you full points.  Until then, the questions are still open for answering.  However, if I think that the source of jglei701's information was correct and mine wasn't, I will give the points to him since he gave answers first.

This  is the website I used.  Here  is the site that I found the info on her age.  I simply subtracted... I REALLY hope I did my math right 2.gif

OOPS... that's embarrassing...  1631-1593 is 38, NOT 34...  So she was older!

I found some discrepancies in the building dates... which I find odd, but I guess it was a long time ago, so maybe people aren't really sure.  1630-1653 is the one I've seen most often in my searches.

    1630 to 1653

    1632-1648

    22 years, starting in 1631.

    22 years

Since history can't seem to make up its mind about the info in question, I will give you the points.  The site I looked at said that it took 17 years to build, and the woman that it was built for was 39 years old.  Check it out.

So, according to my math, Waldo owes you another eight points.

BTW, Puerto Rico is not the USA 28.gif

Puerto Rico is part of the USA, it's just not a state. It's a territory similar to Guam, American Samoa, etc. PR has US Mail, gets US Highway funds (among others), and its residents are US citizens.

Technically, it's a protectorate not a territory  but I'd have to do a bit more research to figure out exactly what the difference is.  I know they have their own legislature and make their own laws, but they have a representative in the House.

I played on a basketball team that went on a mission trip there last summer... it was very beautiful!

Alabaster has correctly identified that it is in North America, and is part of the USA.

Fragmentation, if I gave out points for the state/territory of the location, you would have gotten it correct.  However, no one has identified the city in Puerto Rico, so the city points are still available.  I will tell you that it is a major city, not some place that wouldn't show up on a map.

Finally, I would like to thank you, tchaos713, for the plug in your sig!44.gif

I know they have their own legislature and make their own laws, but they have a representative in the House.

Actually, no. Puerto Rico is not represented in congress at all. That privilege is reserved for states. Of course, they don't pay federal taxes, either. Every 4 years, when they vote for their govorner, the people of Puerto Rico vote on whether to stay a territory, become independent, or become a state. Ever since achieving the status, they've always voted to stay a territory. In more recent years, however, there have been a larger number of people voting for statehood. So, it's no wonder that just about anyone would agree that if there ever is going to be a 51st state, it will be Puerto Rico. I do believe their next vote is in 2008.

Sorry, that's not true.  The District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, American Samoa, and Puerto Rico all have representatives in the House .  Luis Fortuno is the Representative from P.R.

EDIT:  ok, here's the Puerto Rico info from the House website...  apparently, Fortuno does not get a vote in the full house but gets a vote on the committee level.

    Puerto Rico's History

    • In 1898, with the end of the Spanish American War Puerto Rico became a territory of the United States.
    • In 1917, the Jones Act conferred U.S. citizenship to the people of Puerto Rico.
    • In 1950, the U.S. Congress passed the Federal Relations Act, authorizing a process to approve a constitution for Puerto Rico, subject to the provisions of the United States Constitution.
    • In 1952, Puerto Rico's Constitution came into effect granting internal self-government to the Island. The same set forth a democratic government modeled on the U.S. system, with the separation of powers among the branches of government.

Facts about Puerto Rico's Relationship with the U.S.

    • As citizens of the United States, Puerto Ricans are protected by the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights.
    • Puerto Rico's local government, which consists of the executive, legislative and judicial branches of government, is subject to the U.S. Constitution.
    • The people of Puerto Rico cannot vote for the President of the United States.
    • The Island is represented in the U.S. House of Representatives by an elected Resident Commissioner who votes at the Committee level but has no vote in the full House. Puerto Rico has no representation in the U.S. Senate.
    • As in mainland states, all federal agencies are represented in Puerto Rico.
    • Puerto Rico residents, individuals and corporations, contribute to the local income tax and do not pay federal income tax, except for income derived from sources outside of Puerto Rico. Island residents pay Social Security and Medicare taxes.

Puerto Rico even has Interstate Highways.

Although not actually completely freeways, they do receive the same 90% federal funding that mainland interstates do.

I had such a strong feeling someone would say that Puerto Rico is not part of the USA, so I was deciding if I should leave a note stating some info about Puerto Rico, but I decided not to because I thought it wouldn't turn into a big deal and others seemed to have cleared things up anyway. Sorry for the confusion I caused if any.

Back to the game, my guess on the latest location will be Venice, Italy, Europe.
