where do sims work?

Hi guys!

 

I've been immensely enjoying simcity by building cities of less than 60k pop, and am looking to explore traffic in greater detail.

 

From what I understand, sims from residential areas travel to industrial areas to work so that they can bring money back to residential areas. They then spend this money in commercial areas which increases their happiness. Could I clarify if sims do indeed work in commercial areas? If so, do they earn money by working in commercial areas? and based on the first available job principle, would this means that my sims will fill up jobs in commercial (if commercial areas are located next to residential areas), before filling up jobs in industrial areas? (which are located further away from the residential areas)

Well, like all good resources they go wherever it is quickest It's pretty much the same as with where they live, they don't really have a house or rent one, they just go in to one and spend the night there. I'm surprised I haven't seen more parties in the streets.
