Can't launch SimCity 5

Hello Sim-people,

I've just bought the SimCity (2013) - Digital Deluxe Edition, through Origin.

The payment, installation, and updating went all through fine, but then when I had to click "Play", everything messes up.

I just get this box saying "Launching SimCity...", which is shown in about 5 seconds, and then just disappears.

Nothing happens.

I've already tried to reinstall the game, through the Origin software, but that didn't fix the problem.

The SimCity Recovery tool doesn't really do anything either. It just launches Origin.

I'm running a 32-bit version of Windows 8 Pro, on a 64-bit Intel i5 CPU.

4GB RAM

The computer is registered on a domain, but that should not make a difference, I guess.

Anybody else who've experienced this problem?

Have a nice weekend, and thank you in advance!  :)

I have the same issue, in my case the only "cure" consists of a computer reboot, then Sim City works fine, but if I close it and want to relaunch it I have to reboot again.

Today, I installed TrackMania United Forever, and experienced the same problem, when trying to launch the game.

Therefore, I decided to try reinstalling Windows 8, and now it actually works right out of the box!

I think the problem was, that the first time I upgraded to Windows 8: I chose to keep my settings, files, software, etc. from Windows 7.

That's probably not the best thing to do.

When I'm looking back, I think the exact problem was, that I ran some gaming tracking software, that uses DirectX, and if I've chosen to keep the software from Windows 7, then I've probably also decided to keep the DirectX settings from the old version of Windows.

Now everything works fine, both the tracking software, and the games themselves.

But, thanks for your suggestions anyway!  :)
