I recently updated from Snow leopard to Mountain lion, and i've just downloaded the universal patch so I can play simcity on ML and it said it installed successfully, but when I go to play, the icon to launch the game has a stop sign thing across it and when I try to launch it it tells me I can't run it because power pc applications are no longer supported even thought i've installed the patch...

What's wrong with my game..?

--------

Edit: Never mind I did a search on finder and found the universal launcher that had installed it's self in some folder I didn't look in :S

You need to run the application from your Applications folder, not from the DVD, as that was the file that was patched.  You may still run into issues from time to time, as there are components within the .app package that are PPC only, and will cause the application to crash.

I had this same problem when I updated my Mac. What the popup window is telling you is basically that your game is outdated. It saddened me very much when it happened to me, but I found a solution. I needed to partition (separate) a part of my Mac's hard drive to run Snow Leopard (I now have both Mountain Lion and Snow Leopard on my Mac), I use this portion of my hard drive for all my games that became "outdated" with the Mountain Lion software update. I hope this information will help you too!

(I did have to go into an Apple Store to have the hard drive partitioned)

There is no need to partition, unless you really want to.  You really just need the Universal Patch, then run the application from the hard drive, not the DVD.  The only thing I'm aware of that has problems in Lion and Mountain Lion is you can only use the NAM Bridges Controller when the game is paused.  As a result, if you need to build an RHW bridge, you have do place the plug in back in your Plugins folder, place the bridge, save, exit, remove the controller, then return to playing.  The bridge still works.
