Simcity crashes the system

I downloaded the game, and started playing.  Within minutes of playing the screen starts to flicker 2-3 times and the system completely crashes.  This has happened a total of 5 times all within the first 3-7 minutes of playing.

 

I have since attempted the following ideas:

• Update the nvidia driver.
• Tried window mode instead of full screen
• Disable the 2nd monitor.

The system completely crashes? As in your computer hard resets? That definitely sounds like a hardware/driver problem to me.

The screen goes completely blank.  There seemingly is no reply if I try to do alt-f4 or try to close the computer using keyboard commands.  I end up doing a hard boot on it to reset it.

 

I have also tried to update to the new beta driver from nvidia.  My assumption is that it probably is a video driver issue.

This must be something with Origin. When i bought Battlefield 3, it would do that for me, making it unplayable for a few weeks, until an Origin update to the game was released.

One thing, your processor and graphics card seem to be running extremely hot. Those values you've posted are very close to what would be considered too hot. I'm guessing this is a custom system. Are your fans cranked up to maximum?

93 °C is too high. It probably switches off for safety ...

 

Clean the fans maybe.... also its possible your download corrupted a bit when you installed the game..could re-download it.

You are absolutely right about the temperature. However, I very much doubt the game could be corrupted. The download is almost certainly verified on receipt. And it's probably signed too as a security measure. It would refuse to launch if corrupt.

You are absolutely right about the temperature. However, I very much doubt the game could be corrupted. The download is almost certainly verified on receipt. And it's probably signed too as a security measure. It would refuse to launch if corrupt.

 

 

Not true, if a single texture got corrupt you would get a memory access violation which would crash the game. But would only happen when that given texture was requested during game time for example.

 

UNLESS they validate every file when you launch the game first, but based on how quick the game boots up i don't think it does except for core files =/

You can checksum the incoming data faster than you can download it.

I have cleaned the fans, and do have the temp lower.  I have noticed on another forum a lot of people have been having issues where the game is causing the system to crash.  I do agree it is probably heat issue.

 

I will say my system is designed for gaming, I have never had any other game cause this issue where I turn it on and it maxes my card out, even when I lower all the graphics settings.  

Personally I think it is a driver issue where something is wrong there.

The card may not be the issue. Your CPU is getting very hot too, and SimCity uses the CPU more than most other games. It might not reach the dangerously high temperatures in other games.
