Dependenices Suggestions

I keep enjoying playing SC4 with someone's Lots, Builidings, Cheats and all that. However, I know each does require to have dependenices or it is not required but I feel its kinna too much work if it requires 2 or 3 or many, I have to download each to get that mod work.

Solution? I think every new modd is created, it should have a installer that will install the modd like building, lots or whatever PLUS the dependenices included, to save time.

I researched here and I don't see anyone done that unless I'm wrong, guide me if you need.

Thanks!

I know what you mean ,but the problem with that idea if deps come with the installer it will create duplicates and mess the game up.I like the current way they do things. All of the dependancys are easily collectable on this site and sc4devotion.If you come across a building and you don't know if you have the dependancies just refer to your plug in folder a 20 sec look will tell you if you need the dependancy or if you have it.Now i highly "recomend (hong kong bat asia team buildings) they have no dependancys and are of high qaulity........ i recomend all of the NDEX ,BSC ,and LBT plug in dependancys ,and Porkys Props,

Cannot be done because of the reasons cited above and also many people use other peoples' work as dependencies. It would be a policy violation to include someone else's work bundled with and installer.

The solution is to decide which group's work that uses dependencies you want.  I mostly use BSC members, and I have a large list of their dependency props and textures.  You only have to have them once, and not per lot.  Here is a snap of by BSC plugins structure:

SimCity 4/Plugins/BSC
├── BSC Essentials.dat
├── bsc_Essentials_OG.dat
├── BSCProps
├── BSC_Reward_essential.dat
├── BSCTextures
├── CP
├── eindhoven residential
├── Farms
├── Ferox
├── Gascooker
├── JMyers
├── Mattb325 Cruise Ship Terminal
├── Ripplejet
├── Simcoug
├── SimGoober
└── spa

13 directories, 3 files

So you see, you don't need a lot of dependencies if you stick to one maker group.  For each group you pick up, you should get a similar structure and soon you'll accumulate all the dependencies you need.

Green, basic .dat files with dependencies, Blue props and textures sets.  Others are individual contributors in BSC whose lots I have.

That is a good solution, but that won't work to a "collector geek". Like me, for example. :kitty:

A lot of custom contents in my plugins forced me to download all the dependencies as well. It took time, but it's worth it. I've seen so much colors in my cities nowadays.

This just in case Mr.Brzezowskij here is a collector geek like me, the only solution is to be patience. This kind of question has been asked time to time. You really love one stuff but it contained dependencies, be patience and download those one by one. That is the price. You don't like long list dependencies, don't even bother to download. Simple.  Having a hard time to find the dependencies, then can't find it, ask here thread is the right place to ask. There is always a way, the question is, can you find the right way? Well, of course you can if you just ask. That's the Forum's intention.

Our fine member north country dude once said, "The argument over dependencies is juvenile and is primarily a matter of preference. Downloading a file and it's associated dependents is entirely up to the user. I try to keep the list of dependent files to a minimum, but at the same time, try to create unique, realistic, and visually interesting Lots. Consider, I went to the trouble of searching, downloading, assembling, and finally, testing the modified Lot. You only download it and the dependencies required. Your job is easy."
