Hi guys

first time poster :)

I want to buy a laptop which will run SimCity on max, i'm in the UK

Do you know how much I am looking at for this?

I spoke to dell who told me I would have to buy an alienware for that, which would set me back around £1,200

Is there any alternative?

Sorry if it's simple

Thanks!

How much do you want to spend?

Edit:

Do you want it as a substitute for a desktop or do you want to travel with it, too?

What size should the display have?

Any preferences regarding other hardware like Harddisk/ SSD? Do you want to have the ability to play blue rays?

Do you want to play other games as well?

    Hi!

As much as necessary but not go massively overkill, if you understand!

It would mostly be for watching movies , browsing, and SimCity. I have a gaming pc so it doesn't have to be a real powerhouse as the most strenuous thing i'll play on it is probably SimCity!

SSD isn't really needed as it adds quite a bit onto the cost doesn't it?

Hopefully 17 inch, full HD as like I said it would be for movies too.

    Thanks for your help!

    ASUS G75VW ...

    2GB of Video Memory..

core i7 3630QM.. quadcore 2 threads per core 2.4ghz speed.. 3.4 max on turbo..

    12 GB RAM.. max 16GB..

    HDD = 750GB + 750GB = 1.5TB..

U Can always upgrade 1 to a ssd.. but you will lose storage

    17.3 Inch Screen

    Bluray/DVD-RW

    USB 3.0 (4 ports)

    HDMI

    VGA Output

    SD Card Reader

    That what I have

Question on this too, guys. Would like some second opinions. I have a 3 year old gaming laptop that runs Anno 2070, Diablo III, GTA IV, etc fine.

Here are the specs - think it will run SC5? Main question is the graphics card - can it handle the new game?

    - Intel® Core2 Duo Processor P8600 (2.4 GHz)
    - 4GB DDR2 System Memory
    - 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT
    - 320GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive

You might have problems winstonbuilder.  I think I have a similar setup, my laptop is a couple years old and it didn't handle the beta that great.
