Is anyone else thinking this?

What I've been thinking looking at the trailers and screenshots for this game, it's either going to be the best in the series or complete and utter garbage. Or it could be like the general opinion on SC Soceities (I kinda liked it) and just be for the graphics, nothing else. It could be great with all the new buildings, the more international styles, and better graphics. I usually don't care about graphics (my 2 favorite games of all time came out in 1998 and 1994), but in a city-builder, graphics are good. This is the genre where I think "the graphics are key to determining the general "is this a good game" in maybe a review.

It's something unpredictable (but in the end it's right. Love that song), but it comes out on March 5. My birthday's March 8. I'll be getting it on the 8th, so I'll just wait and see.

There's no such thing as a middle ground anymore? If anything I wouldn't picture it being a complete disastrous failure or an absolute success, I'd picture it being definitely somewhere in the middle margin.

But that's just me, I might be under or over-estimating the creativity/attention-span of their new target audience.

>My personal feeling is EA may take this game the way of "The Sims" depending on how successful it is. By that I mean pushing out a small DLC updates and calling it an expansion every 6-8 months. Also don't forget the small model update packs and charging $5-10 each.

Wow, now I feel stupid for not thinking of the Sims... Makes perfect sense! With a large amount of expansions like the Sims, seems perfect for EA to milk even more money out of us.

If one of those expansions features a God-Mode/Region-Editor or the fix to the region-view, that's when I'll buy the game... Until then, I'll just watch everyone's reactions to the vanilla version.

Unfortunately I'm a sucker for SimCity and have been buying them since the the first DOS version. Already pre-ordered, just hoping to not get nickel and dimed for content updates that should have been there on release.

If you forfeit all your cards and show a willingness to pay before the product is in your hands.

If you think you will like the game, buy it. But for the love of quality I wish more people would be a bit more discerning and at least give EA the impression that they are not bought.

This reminds me of a car buying experience I had. I went to the dealer and told him my budget. I found a car that I liked and he said well all the models we have are leather, the seats being heated with an upgraded speaker system. He said that I could wait for a more basic model but that could take some time. "Tell you what I could do for you. I could offer you a considerable discount". I said lets see the numbers and he did his math and he gave a pretty good discount. At this point I pile on the enthusiasm, and he's convinced he's got me sold. At this point, if I had cashed in the chips, he won the game. I know as a salesman he's already had that "discount" added to the price, and makes it appear as if its an "incentive" when he subtracts the amount.

So Im looking enthusiastic and have the papers in front of me and have the pen on the signature line. And then then I pause, lift the pen up, and stare him straight in the eyes. I start tapping the pen on the paper and I tell him I didnt need all the luxuries, thats not what I came here for. So he offers me a further discount on the amenities. I tell him no I want the full sticker price off the amenities. He tells me he's already given me a partial discount. I him no, thats the discount on the car itself and that I wanted the total price of the amenities subtracted from the figure he's got in front of me. He tells me he's got to feed his kids and he cant do it. I get up and walk out. Im about in my car and he begrudgingly offers me nearly what I asked for. Im happy because its like only 120 less than what I was asking to be taken off, and I asked for a considerable amount. Just being a smart-arse I said thats ok you can make up the difference with a few free oil changes. He capitulated. So they try to make up the difference with the car-care warranty package. I stomped those hopes real quick.

Afterwards after I bought the car he told me I put him through the ringer. There was a lot of haggling, but to keep the story as short as I could I left out sone of the details.

The point is- you will be taken advantage of if your over eager AND SHOW IT. Its ok to be excited about the game but to show your cards too soon is a detriment.
