They want to emphasise on making the game a simulator well its not a simulator without weather disasters that highly effect the economy... (and i don't mean robots/meteor strikes and ufos etc)

    My ideas:

    Thunder and Lightning

People get struck = need ambulance!

Buildings get struck = need fire engine!

Power station gets struck = power cut == crime increases until power back online (looting etc).

The taller the building the more likely to be struck!

    Rain (which already exists), causes:

Cars, trains and trams to travel slower by a small % due to change in stopping distances, effecting travel times and overall mood.

    Ocean storms:

Boat travel on the ocean == too dangerous due to violent seas, cancels all transportation via boats for that day.

    Snow:

Very slow traffic / trains / tram speeds causes chaos for general traffic time. Airport temporarily shuts down.

People fall and hurt themselves, puts strain on ambulance services and medical clinic capacities.

    High winds:

Damages to taller buildings, temporarily lowers the value in the area until repair.

Airport temporarily shuts down for extreme situations.

    Heatwave:

Lower than normal water table, may require to temporarily turn on another water pump.

People get heat stroke, need ambulance, stresses the medical clinics.

Power demand increases by x% due to people using air conditioning.

    Fog:

Traffic speed slows a certain %, roughly same as rain.

Airport is closed until fog clears if fog visibility is too dangerous.

Occasional peep walking into sign post needing ambulance.

Peeps get hit by a car - need ambulance.

    Hurricane:

Coastal cities only, severe damage to buildings some completely collapse, generally no one goes to work or shops. But there is a mass surge of traffic a day before hand due to panic buying.

Lots of ambulance calls and fire hazards and power cuts. Lasts between 1 to 2 days.

Generally occurs across the entire city.

    Happens very rarely.

Trains/Airport/Boats/Trams etc all unavailable in such extreme weather.

    Tornado:

Only inland cities, destroys buildings in a more localized area of a city and only lasts 1 day, lots of injuries and fires.

Happens more frequently than a hurricane due to it being less damaging in comparison, should balance it out !

Trains/Trams all unavailable in such extreme weather.
