Train tracks not working underground

I am trying to make the trains (passenger or freight) work when I make them go under avenues, roads, highways and such (see the attached photo). On one side of the highway or avenue I have normal usage and the other side I have none. This happens on straight or diagonals equally, it doesn't seem to matter. is there a way of doing this and if so is there a tutorial on it?

Thanks

You need to connect the tunnel entrances with pieces that plop over the avenue and the highway. Tab through the Underground Rail puzzle pieces and you should find the pieces you need.

I wish it were that easy. I looked and tried to plop every piece in the tab and all that is available is pedestrian crossings and such. Is there another type of connection that I am not aware of? Or can I download another type of connection?

    Thanks

Seems that I found one piece that would work, but only for avenues and it creates an intersection, which I don't want. Train tracks still do not work. One end has all the business and the other side has none. Hmmm.....

    Any suggestions..........

There are puzzle pieces for road too. Have you tried that?

I'm finding under both road and train tabs but it seems that it only make them look good and are not functional. Still having the same problem with one side of the road or highway being active and the other having no traffic at all. Hmmm...

Note that there are multiple menu entries for underground rail, each with full tab rings. The pieces you need are all in there. However, you can't do that highway crossing you show, because it's too close to a ramp.

The puzzle pieces are fully functional. It's not clear enough to me why it's not functional to you.

If only you could provide more pic of how you actually lay your puzzle pieces, and that may give us a clear answer to what exactly your problem is.

I took a series of photos depicting what my rail system is doing, or not doing, depending on how you look at it. My rail system doesn't seem to be continuing through the whole city. It stops at some of the rail crossings and I am wondering if it is the way that I have my bridges laid out.

Let me know if you need other photos or better explanation and how I can improve each.

    Thoughts????

Hmmm. That's a new one on me. I think you have to sometimes force the issue.

Yesterday, while arranging a ground level underpass for a ground level highway (you make a stretch of elevated highway for what I am doing), I ran into a terrain problem where tracks could not be laid and had to make a small loop around this dip in the ground. I know I could have smoothed it out with the engineering tools, but it would have caused a lot of remake on the highway intersection that was adjacent.

If your rail network discontinues, it is usually due to terrain problems or plopped features such as pedestrian mall tiles or rail overpass pieces. These pieces seem to lock the adjacent grids. It then comes to getting things done in the right order. You can add these puzzle pieces after everything else is in place without a problem, but if they already exist, manipulating things beside them is often not possible.

If you have a slope mod operating, this may complicate the issue. I don't use one at the moment.

Your photos are small but I did not notice any entrance tunnels for the underground RR. You must have an entrance tunnel and an exit tunnel if you return to the surface. These MUST be oriented in the correct direction or they will not work. The large end of the tunnel always faces the surface tracks whether it is entrance or exit. If you are going under a Avenue then you would have the tunnel opening on each side of the Ave with the wide opening facing away from the Avenue and toward the tracks. Don't forget to plop the proper connector on the avenue to complete the connection.

All the connections are in your menus so don't be afraid to hunt around and experiment if you are unsure. The worst that could happen is a massive train wreck ;0

UPDATE: I went back and looked at your pics again and I do see an entrance tunnel and this appears to be where your train stops. You nust lay the underground connection pathway and the tunnel if you are returning to the surface. I was unable to tell your intent once you placed the tunnel entrance.

Anyway, the way you have it now is that any train on that track goes underground only to hit a dirt wall. The death count will be massive and I see you tied up in court for decades...
