Can't create a simple T21 mod; not showing up in-game

I have attempted to follow this tutorial to add chain-link fences to the edges of the rail straight pieces. Well, it's not working. I followed the tutorial exactly as it was written, but when I load the game up, the rail network does not have any fences. It does not have those little signal box things that appear by default either; it seems like there are no props appearing on it now. I tried originally with all my plugins, then when it didn't work, I loaded the game with nothing but the .dat file for my T21 mod in my plugins folder.

I started with the cement park lot and saved a copy of that, opened it in Reader and replaced its LotConfigPropertyLotObject entry with the one from the straight rail piece. I added the fences (testing it with the default Maxis ones), saved it in the Lot Editor, and then copied its LotConfigPropertyLotObject to a copy of the straight rail piece in a new .dat file. I re-indexed the LotConfig every time the tutorial said to.

I actually have copied the LotConfigPropertyLotObject lines from the straight piece in the Rail Catenary (T21) Mod to the custom park lot before I edited it; do you think that would make a difference? I tried the tutorial twice, but I'm already frustrated enough with this and I don't want to waste any more time if I don't get anywhere nearer to a solution. Hopefully this thread doesn't die like most of mine seem to, and someone from the NAM team can help me.

There's one error in your method. Not the LotConfigPropertyLotObject should refer to the network tile, but the kPropertyID_LotConfigNetworkTileID. Delete the LotConfigPropertyLotObject, click right and select "Re-index LotConfig" (just to be sure) and add a new property called kPropertyID_LotConfigNetworkTileID. This will have one entry, containing the IID of the network tile.

I hope this will help you out ;)

    Best,

    Maarten

Thanks for the reply, but I am confused about something. Do you mean that I should have a SC4Lot file with the kPropertyID_LotConfigNetworkTileID in it, or a type 21 file in a .dat file with it in there? The tutorial said to copy the file (Rail32/0xCACB8F22) from SimCity_1.dat, which I did today, and it already includes the kPropertyID_LotConfigNetworkTileID, plus some LotConfigPropertyLotObjects as well, which I had replaced with the one from my edited park lot. I also tried adding the kPropertyID_LotConfignetworkTileID to the custom SC4Lot file.

Edit: Hey, I've got it working now! I followed Xyloxadoria's tutorial and realized that I needed multiple LotConfigPropertyLotObject lines in the file. I had been thinking that I needed to delete the old ones and only have one of them. Now my fences are showing up only when there are zones next to the rail, and perpendicular to the tracks instead of parallel, but I believe that should be easy to fix. Thanks again for your help.
