SimsVille Engine?

1. SimsVille was discontinued before it could be released.

2. SimsVille used an engine modified from The Sims 1. Many of its features were put into The Sims Hot Date.

    I know it was discontinued before it was released. I'm wondering how they incorporated 3D and the town builder into the Sims engine though...

    The graphics engine used for the original Sims had 3D capabilities, all the Sims themselves were proper 3D models, the terrain was proper 3D too.

    The Town Building mechanics never got in though.

  • If anyone's interested SimCopter was also based on an early version of The Sims' engine :

    We actually took a very early version of the engine and used it in SimCopter. That was kind of the first test of it. But we knew at that point we could do it, from there it was more a matter of how we represent everything."
