Patch Downloaded but Not Working

I went to https://www.sc4devotion.com to download the patch and it all worked fine. I found the correct file for Deluxe and North America and downloaded it just how the site said to. I got the "Congratulations! SimCity has been updated" window but when I checked the file sizes they were still the same.

I also went to Report file in the SimCity 4.exe folder and it shows Version 1.0. I then went looking online and saw something about downloading all the Deluxe patches for the different territories so that's what I did. Still didn't work.

I also downloaded the Vanillia SimCity 4 file for my region and again, nothing. I started and quit the game to see if that changed anything. I have 2 plugins in the Documents>SimCity 4>Plugins folder so I don't know if that's why it's not working. I couldn't figure out how to put my pictures on the actual post so I just attached them. If you could help I would really appreciate it.

The patch for Deluxe is only for the Deluxe version: it seems you have the Vanilla version.

You would need to purchase a copy of the Deluxe / Rush Hour version to be able to enjoy most of the custom content.

I have the Deluxe version. Even if I didn't shouldn't the Vanilia patch have still worked?

Clearly you have Deluxe, and when you downloaded "UPDATE_SKU1_TO_P1_B638" it was successful? Because from everything I have read, that is the patch to use for North American SimCity 4 Deluxe version. I am currently trying to figure how to update mine, because nothing has worked. Do you have windows 7? I could tell that you had 64-bit windows, just not sure which version, I am just wondering if its something to do with my windows for my problem, and possibly yours too? If you had success, please update

I just solved my problem and avoided giving myself a head-ache by downloading the digital version of Deluxe from Gamefly for 4.99, it is updated already, so you won't have to worry about the patches. This whole update business is getting to be a large pain. What's your time worth? For five bucks you can get the digital version, pre-patched and diskless. Just install it with your present user files, and it is fine.

Thanks azul for giving the link. Glad I'm not the only one with these update troubles. I'll buy it and see if it works.

-Edit- It works! Much better than spending hours trying to find files and figure out where they go just to find out they weren't the right files.

Nonny,

I have the game from long long long ago, but obviously the steam version or something would be much nicer. My game does not patch correctly either - but I must admit that almost 10 years later I dont know what I expected when trying to patch everything again.

Is it on sale on steam often? I guess I have never noticed...it would be nice to have it on there for longevity...

Don't know about Steam. Not my choice of a vendor. I use either GamersGate or Amazon. See above for another alternative.

Both Steam and Origin have funny ideas about logging on to their service before you can run the game. Phooey! The game is stand alone and you need to get a stand alone version, even at full price ($30). The very idea of Steam (Valve) or anyone else having access to my system makes by blood boil.
