Demand Increasing

So I have used a demand mod to help with CO$$$ demands which of course will just help a little with the residential. I have made the city grow up to 276,000 residents and 400,000 commercial jobs. Now the demand for it is a little low in R$$/$$$ and CO$$/$$$. I'm using CAM. Is there any way to increase demands for these sectors? I have placed some cap relievers and those didn't really help with more growth.

I am not sure that the two products work well together. Both skew the basic algorithms in different ways. With 400K jobs in your city you need access to 800K Sims, being that the ratio is roughly 2 Sims per job. Good luck. I hope you have some big suburbs on other city tiles or you'll have rampant unemployment.

like noony moose said...

CAM increases the demmand cap and capacity of the demand, so if this demand mod was codded over maxis demand settings... its possible that the demand booster you have, could acctualy decrease overall demand...

The mod I used was CAMpatible so I don't know if that's the problem. The demand went to full CAM demand capacity. I think it might be that the demand has been satisfied but I was wondering if there's a way to keep it up. About the residents problem, how do I bring up all those residents? Do I zone low-medium density suburbs?

You should try for large R$ tenements.

If you have any I-D, try zoning clusters of 2 x 2 high density residential lots in a pattern of four forming a 4 x 4 square. If you like, put it in pause while you zone these. The game could join them up into high density 4 x 4's, and if things are not desirable for R$$ or R$$$$ you could get some very large R$ buildings.

Try putting these right next to your I-D or some other mildly NIMBY areas. Starve them for parks, schools, hospitals, but have firemen and cops.

I am not sure what happens in the CAM any more. I used it when it first came out, but found I didn't care for it, and haven't used it in years. I am not into downtown Hong Kong.

Considering I don't want I-D in a CBD, would zones with no education or parks or anything except safety work? And to make those R$ tenements, do I zone Low Density or High Density?

Tenements will only grow on high density, usually 4 x 2 lots, joined by the game from two 2 x 2s. Sometimes you can get four 2 x 2's to combine into a 4 x 4 and generate a really big tenement. If you have no I-D, then make the neighbourhood dicey with few amenities. Check your desirability chart for pinkish areas for R$$ and R$$$ and put the zones there. R$ will live anywhere.
