When using ctrl+alt+shift+r to select the file, does the cursor change to an hour glass? It could take a lengthy period of time to complete the render. Also, could you provide links to the maps you're trying, or at least the exact names. It's rare, but there could be an issue with the files.

I am also having this issue. Here is the first one I tried - - No luck. I then proceeded to search the forums and came across alot of people with the same issue. This is the current forum I read - - along with many others including all the "how to's" for downloading and rendering. Nonny Moose provides a link in the comments of this forum....I tried that one also.....and I must not be holding my mouth right cuz I still cant get a single map to render :/

I tried the map you linked to, and it seemed to go okay. Without knowing exactly the process you are using, I'll give a brief list of steps to take:

    1. Download the config (bmp) file and the greyscale image (jpg) to a location on your computer (I usually just use the desktop).

    2. Create a *New Region* folder in the My Documents/SimCity 4/Regions folder (I usually name it the same as the greyscale image).

    3. Move (or Copy) the two images into the *New Region* folder.

    4. Run the game and open the *New Region* region. You should see the region with no terrain, but the city tiles should be those that match the config sections.

    5. Use the ctrl+alt+shift+R command to open the navigation window.

    6. Navigate to the My Documents/SimCity 4 /Regions/*New Region* folder.

    7. The config (bmp) and the greyscale image (jpg) files should appear. Select the greyscale (jpg) file. Then "OK".

    8. The cursor should change to an hour glass, meaning the process has begun.

    9. The various cities should cycle through as each is rendered. It may take a long time, depending on the size of the region.

    10. Let it run without interruption until complete.

If this is the process you are using, where does your problem arise?

Note: This is the process for regions created with greyscale images. If the regions were created using SC4 Terraformer (usually indicated by downloading a zip file), the process is totally different.
