Can anyone help me with a video card issue?

I have recently bought a second hand HP-Compaq D530 running Win7. It came with a bad integrated graphics card. I bought a Radeon HD 5450 to replace it but I can't get the computer to even recognise it. It came with no driver cd. I think it is in a PCI Express slot though I can't be sure. I know you can do something like dia's belong the primary output in the BIOS but I can't find that option. Can anyone help?

One thing you need to do is UNINSTALL the old driver before installing a new one. Get the latest driver from AMD website for your new graphics card and install that.

I have no idea what motherboard your HP-Compac D530 has and assume you checked to ensure your new graphics card is compatible. If not, you can find out at the HP website.

Let us know if you are still having trouble.

Did you try the Windows hardware daemon to replace the driver? If so, and it can see the card, it should be able to find it.

If the old video system is a board and not a chipset on the mobo, just remove it. If it is on the mobo it may not be a bios option but a jumper on the board you have to change. You need the manual for the mobo in that case.

I don't know anything about Windows 7 so it may be different but somewhere in your BIOS there should be an option for PCI graphics. Because you have been using on board or integrated graphics that probably is not checked. For your new card to work that should be checked or enabled because your new card is PCI Express x16.
