Two problems

Love SimCity, they've all been great until Societies...

I love most the simulation, I like struggling to get people to move into my city and stay there.

I anticipate SimCity 5 though 2 huge things are causing me concern and in the end will most likely cause me to not enjoy the game.

1. Resources. All the resources are finite. And when the resources run out, my city will collapse. I can tell you right now that won't be fun. Basically you're telling me I'll have a set amount of time I can build a city for and after that, it's game over. I don't like that at all.

2. No connecting roads to region play. SimCity 4 had the regions connecting however I wanted. It worked, it was a great system. Why remove that? It's bad enough I have to be always online (which has proven to kill the fun in more than one game I should add), why can't I connect my region how I want?

Game looks like it might have potential, but those two things are going to drain the fun out of it for me I think.

Please reconsider.

There is so much confusion to this game. I've heard so many different stories, even from EA. It's pretty annoying. I guess we're just going to have to wait until the game is released to see. Honestly, I think it's too late in the dev stage to change that kind of stuff, but what do I know.

For now I'm keeping an open mind about 1. (along with many other things they've announced about the game).

There's only really one thing (so far) ruining the game for me, and that's 2. When you combine it with maps that are only 2 km by 2 km, it's a catastrophe.

^I completely agree, If the cities were bigger, this game could be pretty good.

Another idea is similar to what they have now. If they insist on making it multiplayer and have the cities seperated, make it so there is more than one city tile in a single section and these city tiles can have unlimited neighbour connections.

For example, let's say there are 3 players working on a single region. Each players gets a 4x4 section of 2X2 city tiles to work with instead of just one 2X2 tile. Then each players "section" is connected by an interregional network that the players cannot modify. This way, the players can make a city as big as they want, EA will get their multiplayer the way they want it, and the simulation engine will still be able to support this 8x8 city because it is seperated into 2x2 tiles.

I don't see a problem with the finite resources, thats pretty realistic... (think of all the cities built on oil money desperately trying to diversify!) and it should be fine, as long as there are plenty of alternatives... like tourism/banking. And then you could still trade for them.

I imagine there must be other ways to keep your economy going after your oil well dries up, it would be pretty silly if your city is screwed once something like that happens. I'm guessing you'll have to trade for it but by that point you should have enough revenue from factories or offices to pay for stuff like that.

I always read these "suggestive whims" and get all riled up about it if it can be possible. 4x4 would be nice, but then someone slaps right across my mouth and reminds me that...........

no HD saves, probably no modding because of the cloud/multiplayer <---these are mandatory for a city building game
