Easy way to save bandwidth!

I don't know if this will catch on or not, or if it even helps. With image shack you get a tumbnail. For my CJ I am doing, all of my pics are now thumbnailed on the board. I have links below each to my webpage off site if you want to see the full picture. I also crop all of them down to 800 x 600 or less in photoshop. Than after they are small enough I export for web use down to 32 selective colors. I do loose a little of the picture look, but we all know what Sim city looks like, and it isn't bad. Also even at the larger sizes it only takes a short time to load even at a slow 28 8. I havn't had any replies on my new way of posting as I only started tonight. It does take time, but I personaly think it looks nice and i'm sure saves space.

I just posted four images, I think. each was under 200k and no larger than 800x550. I was worried that was entirely too many. Then I see above some people may be posting up to 30? Ouch!

 

Was 4 images acceptable, in one post?

I personally use PhotoBucket for my images. Quite easy to use as well.

Here is how Graphic art communities on-line, save a bit of space:

They host my gallery and I have the ability to delete an image as well as the entire comment thread below it. I cannot take back a thing I post here at a forum, Why not?

For example: My CJ is my copyright, the comments under it were made to me. I should be able to delete the entire thing, if it is a dead cause, or if I have started a new CJ.

It works wonders, at every CGI community I have seen.

i hate to be the one to mention this...
but the fact that you guys allow us to place pictures on your server is great, but it is too easy...

the fact that i can upload and format my pictures without even having to leave my post, much less the site, makes it too easy to use way too many pictures...

why would i want to hassle with some other web site when using this one is sooo simple...!!!? take that simplicity away, you'll likely get more users using the external sites...

i would suggest making there be a seperate place that pictures have to be uploaded, (on this site ofcoarse) then the addition of them in the text of our posts would have to be done the old fashoned way... make it a bit of a pain and people will be more likely to use your BW less often...

another thing, while this site is ***!GREAT!*** becuase of all of the simply GUI available i would remove some of the less used features... like, everything i see around this box now... the smileys have to cost some hefty BW over coarse of how many posts per day... same with the formatting tools above... most posts dont use these features, and are thus a waste of your bandwidth... i would say making a link at the side of this dialog to say Advanced Formatting and Smileys so when people actually plan on using them, they will... otherwise... they wont!
