Blurry Graphics - Help Required

    Hi guys.

I've just bought SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition off Origin and am having some graphics issues.

My machines specs are: Intel Core i5-2400, 8GB RAM, ATI Radeon HD 5750 (1GB), 1TB Seagate Barracuda, Windows 7 64 Bit on a 24" AOC Widescreen. (I've added the line '-CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080x64' to my shortcut target to get the game to run at the same resolution as my monitor.)

My problem is that after a few seconds, everything goes very subtly blurry in SC4. I also randomly get lots of thin horizontal and vertical lines over the screen sometimes.

I believe the problem lies within the RADEON graphics Catalyst Control Centre settings. In SC4 I have hardware controlled selected under the display options- I noticed that when I select software controlled under the same set of options, even though I don't get the blurring, the building and street graphics aren't quite as clear as they are for the few seconds before I get blurred graphics when zoomed in with hardware controlled.

I'm a relative new comer to this game, although have been a big user of the Flight Sim 2004/ FSX programs for years and am used to going into the config files with notepad to edit the variables. I'm hoping there are some tweaks that people on these boards can advise me of to sharpen up my SC4 visuals.

    Any help much appreciated!

    Thanks.

I've made a before and after screenshot to try and show what I mean a little better.

The top image is the more sharp nice looking graphics that I wish to obtain the whole time I play- the bottom image is the slightly cloudy version that sweeps the screen a few seconds after I open the game:

Well, as a fellow ATI user, I can tell you that you have to set all your 3D hardware options to be controlled by the program being loaded. On my Catalyst panel, I have to uncheck any 3D option to override the application. This turns everything off as far as SC4D is concerned. It was written before any of these features were available, and they interfere with it considerably.
