Weird power problem (adjacent/connected zones no power)

    Hi all SC4 players,

I'm experiencing a weird problem with the power supply of one city.

Let's first say that there is plenty of power and that all zones are connected. They are connected by power lines and/or adjacent.

But..., and here's the problem: a few residential and commercial zones are showing those "nice" power zots. Like I told before, there's plenty of power and all zones are connected. This is driving me nuts. It's just like north of an avenue or just normal road, I can't build anything anymore, south of it there are no problems at all.

I already tried everything I can think of: make sure there's enough power, rebuilding streets, roads and avenues, rezoning. All to no avail. This is really weird.

Here are the specifications of my PC (just to make sure):

    Processor: Intel i5 2400 (quadcore 3.1 Ghz)

    Memory: 16 GB

Harddisk: 2 TB western digital (sata)

Graphics (nVidia GTX 550, 1 GB memory).

Motherboard: Asus P8Z68 deluxe (LGA 1155 compliant)

No ide/floppy connections: all is usb 2/3 and sata2/3/esata.

If someone could help me out here, I would be very happy. I never have seen such a weird SC4 problem before.

BTW: SC4 runs great here and just has some very occasionally crashes on this Windows 7 64-bit system.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jan

P.S.: I have the SC4 Deluxe edition here, with a couple of STEX additions, like the NAM, some buildings and other very nice additions. The problem I just mentioned is just in ONE region. In other regions there are no problems. I sometimes use SC4 terraformer or the built-in god tools to terraform a region.

P.S. 2: The city is a power providing city to other cities. It also handles the garbage of other cities. At the moment there are three nuclear power plants and one waste-to-enery plant.

    Sorry,

It seems like SC4 cities need a lot of power supply lines. After I added another power supply line (directly from the power supply: i.e.: 3 nuclear plants) to the affected parts of the city, it all was OK again. Weird :), but I'm happy again. The city was doing so well with a lot of profits. All was/is present: eductaion, health care, industry, police and fire departments.

I don't think it should be like that though, as you mentioned before it's only in that region and even in only that city? You don't have any pugins that somehow influence power in your cities?

After some testing and trying I think it's an SC4 bug or feature.

If you have a city that's selling power to other cities and some of those other cities are reselling power to another couple of cities, you can run into weird problems. Always check that the reselling city has more than enough power for itself before (re)selling to ther cities and that there are enough power lines. This really seems to be an issue in SC4.

Even the city with the power plants can run into problems. Add a few extra power lines between the power plants and the city and everything should be fine.

Have you tried using the power distribution display on this? It should show where the problem lies. I recently had a little enclave that wasn't powered even after I put a power plant right next to it. In 10 years of play, this is the only instance that I recall, and I wound up obliterating the city. It was OK when I rebuilt it.
