Evolution of buildings

I know that simcity has evolution in terms of an office to a skyscraper, but what about buildings evolving over time? What I mean about this is how would you like it if the building models started out in, say, the early 20th century ( starting right around 1910-20's ) and eventually evolved into the building models of today? And after the buildings evolve into modern models, why not continue that into a future era?

Is this a good idea or a bad one?

I for one would like to see this in simcity.

What you are describing has been discussed before and is referred to as the "timeline" feature. Personally, I think it is a nice idea, but I would rather have them focus on doing a good job on the main aspects of the game first and then releasing this as DLC.

I wouldn't care for it.

One thing I like about SC4 is even though the buildings "grow" you have control over it, small population small houses, rich small population big nice houses... dense pop. skyscrapers... pollution = trailer homes... and I could go on... All of these you can control, via pollution, education etc...

But if buildings changed over time just because time was passing....then you wouldn't have that aspect of control over what buildings looked like and stuff..

Like lets say the timeline starts in the 1800's and go to 2300... what happens if my favorite building set is in the year 1990? but as time progresses I have no control over them changing..

I just don't think I would like it.

If this is ever in the game, I want an option to turn it off.

^Same. It is a nice thing to have for the people that want to play like this. I probably wouldn't.

Well, if you don't like the idea, then there would be an option to turn it off. Simple solution.

^Or, as I mentioned before, make it DLC, so you have to option of even having it in your game in the first place.

Or just set the tile sets to change with the years.

Are tile sets well established? Will there be different ones for different eras?

The special digital deluxe origin version says that it comes with a French, a British, and a German Tile Set.
