Newbie custom content questions

I want to DL some of the incredible content available here but I sometimes run into snags when using them in the game so here are my questions.

1.  Do I have to have the BAT installed to use BAT files?

 

2.  What is the best way to find the props most often needed if dependencies exist?

 

3.  I read Greyveils newbie post (very helpful!). What other props, lots, or mods are highly reccommended or used?

1) No, you do not. You do need the latest Simcity patch and if you want nightlights, you will also need a BAT NightLight Patch (both on simcity.com).

2) Most BATs come with a readme file, try there.

3) I can't really help you there, maybe someone else can.

Thanks for the fast response!! A clarification about the BAT night lighting issue please.  I see night lights in the game now, if I DL BAT files and suffer from the bug they won't light? or could my game already be patched?

Welcome lurker. PM me or others if you need any help.

The night light patch download is a patch to make sure all the buildings you download (default buildings don't have this proplem), light at night otherwise they will not.

I was looking at the NAMbeta link.  After searching the forums more I think the NAM may be a little advanced for me just yet.  I'll try working with the LE first.  I thought the NAM was more like a patch for gameplay issues than a tool for modification. Thanks for responding.

well nam isn't a modification program but a program that extends the traffic options you have
