SC4 terraformer issue

Hi there everyone.

I apologize in advance if I seem dense or if I'm asking a question which is blatantly answered somewhere in big bold letters, in fact I almost guarantee that this will be the most obvious fix ever...

I should also point out that I used to use SC4 terraformer with no problem, and made some fantastic regions. This is a couple years back before my hiatus. Anyways, on to the problem

So I've made my region in SC4.

I've gone into paint (I'm running windows 7 and paint is afterall more than good enough to make a bmp)

I've created my config.bmp

Now... here's where for some reason my mind gives out on me...

If I go into terraformer, the region is there, blank as could be expected, but with the proper dimensions as prescribed by the config.bmp which I have by this point placed into the correct region folder

However, and this has the same outcome whether or not I've gone into terraformer, when I go back into SC4, and load that region, it's just blank, there's nothing there. It's just the blueish background that you'd usually have behind your region view, but the land has zipped out of existance.

I have tried making the config.bmp and just fiddling with the actual city tiles, and not change the overall dimensions of the region and same outcome. I'm at a loss...

I've spent the better part of the day today trying to find if I'm doing something wrong or in the incorrect order, but I'm sure that at this point I'm overthinking the issue which is why I'm sure that as soon as someone posts a reply to this thread, I'll be kicking myself and wishing I hadn't posted what I'm sure will make me look as though I should turn off my computer and just maybe idly toss it out my apartment window...

Anyways, I would really appreciate any suggestions because quite frankly, at 26 I should have less grey hair than I've accumulated today alone...

Cheers!

You can test your config.bmp by moving the terraformed map out of the folder and just opening the game. If you get the config.bmp layout with all flat terrain, the config file is OK. If not, then you need to make sure it is not some odd dimension. They have to be rectangles.

Are you sure you didn't miss a detail when making the terraformer map. It sounds like you are getting all sky textures, which would indicate that the land map is somehow missing, not the config.bmp.

I don't use terraformer, so I hope someone else can help you. It would be useful if you posted the images you have on this thread.

This problem is usually caused by errors in the config.bmp. Make sure the colours you are using are all correct. You might also want to post a picture of your config.bmp so we can check for errors.

A good point. The colors can't be just any only density. The color you are trying to use must be at full saturation (255) for the system to see it. You would be better off with MT-Paint when you have full control over the colors and it is a pixel editor completely. It is free.

    Thanks guys!

I'll try the 256 colour idea because it's possible that's the issue.

I've unfortunately had to leave town unexpectedly so I'm away from my pc for a few days. If it doesn't work I'll post pictures of the config.bmp and the region.

Thanks again. I'm thinking it's the colours, I just used the preavailable ones which I'm sure are not standard.
