I have tried 3 different slope mods and placed them in both of the plugins (doc's and program files) and they all don't work. I have only had this issue with one other plugin which was the Extra Cheats by Buggi but that got fixed after i moved it to my docs plugins. Any ideas? If you need more information specify below please.

The correct place to install custom content is the docs plugins folder, unless stated otherwise. But a mod shoud override the

original setting, whether installed in the program files plugins or the docs plugins folders.

What do you mean they don't work? Are you getting the original Maxis slopes (too steep)? Are you sure you are using them correctly?

If they indeed don't work, a reason may be installation conflicts, ie another copy(-ies) of the plugin's exemplars may have been installed (another slope mod or another mod in general), which is the one that takes effect (overriding the slope mod you want to use). In such a case make sure that your slope mod is loaded last (the loading order determines which one takes effect). To do so, create a folder named ZZZ_SlopeMod directly under the docs plugins folder, and install the mod in there.

Just a note. Never put anything in the Program Files residency of the game unless directed to do so. That area gets replaced if you do a re-install.

True that these files will be deleted in case of a re-install, but NOT true that you shouldn't install any plugins there.

I recommend that you install all your "mods" (only) into the Programfiles/Maxis/Plugins folder and simply save a copy before you do a re-install. Files in this folder will load first and faster and will help your gamespeed and making sure that the modplugin will work properly. Also it will help you to differ the mod and other gamefiles such as the .dat, .lot, .desc and .model files which should always be in the MyDocuments/Simcity4/Plugins folder. ;)

Just a question though, did you unzip your download before installing?

It is a moot point. Nothing should go in there is you have multiple users on the same machine. They don't deserve to have you decide what plugins they should have. Also, unless you are in an Admin account, you shouldn't be able to put anything in there anyway.

Now, durfsurn: What is the build number of your game? Use windows explorer and look in the program files folder under maxis etc and find the executable (SimCity 4.exe), hover your mouse over it. If you don't get back at least 1,1,638 you need to update your game.

Woah! My game is 1.1640 (patched) I unzipped the file. Done two cross checks for incompatible/copies and come up clean. tomorrow I will try the zzz folder thingo. By not working I mean I get sharp maxis slopes. If you need more info just comment!

Have you tried to re-drag the roads? Just an obvious question, since slope mods (just like T21 mods and RUL-code changes) don't take immediate effect...

I try with simple but steepish slopes AFTER I place a slope mod in. I try redragging as well. Also this may help. Only my EL Train does any help. Heavy rail is just as steep as roads. I will edit this with a pic in a hour or so.

As mrtnrln said, installing a slope mod won't change the slopes of your existing networks. So, install the slope mod of your choice (in the zzz_... folder), and lay the networks you are interested in again (better save your city before attempting so, and if the result wasn't the one you wanted. or it was... disastrous, eg massive height changes, exit without saving and try again).

BRF's mod has the most gentle slopes of all, eg only 2% for rail.
