I downloaded some .mp3 files, put them in the (C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Radio\Stations\Mayor\Music) folder. They are there when I open the folder, but don't show up in the game at all. Yes, I have "Custom Tunes" ticked in the options. Please help.

Try turning off the default game music by clearing the check boxes in the control panel. The music pickup in mayor mode is random and you will get the game music in your mix if you don't. You have no control over the order.

And this my friend is why, if I want computer music, I use banshee and turn the game music off. In your case windows media player will happily run in the background at some serous cost unless you have more than one core.

The separate music player plays better music. My system quite happily plays .flac files that I can rip from a CD, converting the .wav to .flac directly and preserving the bandwidth. FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec.

Normally, I play with the music off and listen to the muzak channels on my cable system.

Not to mention that for SC4 to play the files, they must be at a bitrate of 128kbps or lower, SC4 cannot read 256kbps or higher (Nothing will play and it will not move onto the next track).

Custom Music also does not show up in the song list, it only enables the "Custom Music" checkbox.

Guess I forgot to mention also that MP3 is quite lossy. Usually sounds like the music is being played down a well.
