Recently the laptop i use for sim city had its desktop erased when i got a virus removed, which meant sc4 was deleted...i think. the folders (plugins and etc.) for the game were saved on an external hd so they weren't deleted, but the shortcut on my desktop was. when i got my laptop back i put the sc4 cd in but after clicking run/install nothing happens. i'll try over and over but nothing happens. is this 1)a computer or cd problem and 2) what can be done to fix this, other than buying a new computer. any help would be greatly appreciated.

First, let's assume that everything is really OK, and all you've lost is the shortcut. To find out, open windows explorer and see if you can navigate to:

    C:\program files\Maxis\SimCity 4.

If this structure is there, open the Apps menu in that folder, move to the simcity 4.exe, right click and choose make shortcut.

Move the shortcut back on to your desktop, and try opening the game.

    Any luck?
