I know I am probably posting in the wrong section and I know that there are answers to this post I have already searched...

My problem is this:  I have downloaded some maps to my regions folder named them properly and saved as config.bmp and so on,but when I get into the game and try to create the region,It begins to create the region and when finished I get a flat region all green and some cities of water only. I download regions with lots of mountains and hills and such but end up w/ the flat and some water patches.
Please tell me what I am doing wrong or send me a link for Dummies if you could...LOL
I am so lost at times but still going at it daily.
Thanks in advance.42.gif

If you have found the answer, why are you asking the question?...lol

I've found that I have to turn off my screen saver or the region won't render correctly.  Don't know if that is your problem, but it might be worth looking at.

BTW....welcome to ST!

3.gifHA-HA...I have found the answer but like I said I am still having trouble with the regions.

I will try the screen saver way but don't know if that has anything to do with the load...worth a shot.

BTW also...I have been here for some time just never posted , I figured I had everything under control but ...

    edit:

oops, as soon as the sc4ever gets up 30.gif

    anyways

As for downloading. Let's try to download this map from STEX.
    What You do is:
Click the download map (414 KB) link - a window with a grayscale image apears
Right-click the download map (right click and save-as) link and choose save as; choose a location You prevere, for example the My documents folder
go back to the first window (You may use the above link again)
    click at the config.bmp link
choose save and save it to the same location as above

    Now what You do is:
create new region, name it somehow
    close sim city
copy the config.bmp file from the location You saved it onto the file located in the region directory (that's as far as I remember C:\Documents and Settings\You\simcity4\regions\region_name); important is to overwrite the existing config.bmp file, meaning, You might have to change the name of the config file You downloaded
    run sim city
    open the region You created
now press shift-ctrl-alt-r and choose the grayscale file You downloaded first; note that the name should apear in the editbox next to the open button, sometimes it doesn't (  8O ) so just type the name
press open and wait, or better go for a walk 2.gif now it takes each region from the flat map You had and renders it using the grayscale map file, the usual texts apear at the top of the screen and a flat square is in the middle

Hey everyone, I tried a few things and somehow got it to work , only problem now is that on a few regions I still have a few green flat cities and then the region I downloaded.

Anything at this point is better than nothing at all right. Still going to mess with this problem more and hopefully I will become the next best CJ expert yet.16.gif

If you have managed to import a Terrain Map, but some of the cities still show flat green land, it is quite possible that the terrain has actually been rendered for the city tile still.

Whenever you import a Terrain Map, the game needs to be the point of focus for the computer for the whole time while it is rendering. Otherwise, you may end up with flat green land in region view. This shouldn't affect how the city itself has actually been rendered though, but it may. I would suggest that you actually load these particular city tiles, & look at them in city view (or God mode view). If they look like they've been properly rendered, then just simply do a full save & it should update the region image properly, just so long as the game is the point of focus while it is saving.
