Sim City 4 Deluxe

Hi all,

Was just wondering i have ordered Sim City 4 Deluxe for my new WIndows 7 computer, i read on facebook that someone who ordered this said that the deluxe edition doesnt come with everything that Rush Hour does, i thought it was a Sim City 4 + Rush Hour in one pack, are there things missing. Would be great if someone could tell me what comes with the deluxe edition.

Hey, welcome to Simtropolis.

SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition is the SimCity 4 vanilla game + the Rush Hour EP. Anyone who has told you that the RH EP contains more 'stuff' is wrong.

Also, you should update your game right away. The update patch can be found here: http://www.ea.com/simcity-4-deluxe

If you plan to download any custom content, you should also have the SC4 BAT Update [link] (Update 1.1.640.0) and bldng prop 1 & 2 DATs [link]. It is assumed you have these things as well as the Deluxe/Rush Hour expansion when you download any third party content.

As usual, things on facebook are of dubious nature and you were right to come to the front end of the horse. Rush Hour and Deluxe are the same, identical program. The difference is that Rush Hour is an expansion pack for people who bought the original game. Deluxe is a two disk package containing both releases.

You will have to get the fixes that were produced post-publication. Go to http://www.ea.com/simcity-4-deluxe to pick up the EP1 update for the region in which your game is marketed. If you expect to use custom content from our exchange or others you will also need the update4BAT which can be found by following the EA Support link from https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php. Scroll to the bottom of the page, and this button is in the left frame. Just accept the agreement, go to the BAT page and get the update only. Initially, you don't need the extra complications of the BAT nor the Lot Editor until you have had some game experience.

Also, if you decide to use plugins, pay attention to all the writing that comes with them and remember that the exchanges are not going away, there is no rush, and one at a time is good fishing. Test each one with your existing plugin set before you consider it OK. They don't all work together.

Thanks for the responses guys, there great help i didnt know i would of had to do all of those updates etc . Yeah im desperate to add stuff from the exchange, i have already made a list of what i want to download etc so i will have fun testing them and building my city up. Im deffinatly going to download the majority of the airport packs as i want to build a really good airport. But as you said i wil take my time with this so i can get everything right from the airport to my skyscrapers i want to download for my major cities.

the bats downloaded from your website are not lighted in night mode of simcity 4 deluxe edition. only the default buildings are lightened and rest downloaded are dimmed. please help me.

Welcome to the conversation.

There can be several problems here, especially if you are new to the game.

First, your game must be up to date with a build level of 1,1,640 or higher. You can check this by finding the game executable in the Program Files structure and hovering your mouse over it. On W7, it will show this. On earlier versions, you have to right click and get the version tab.

Next, not all BAT builders bothered to set up the textures for night lights, especially early contributors. It is a finicky problem in skinning the model. Since I can't believe all the lots you downloaded have no night lights, I suspect the former problem.

There are lots of threads on this site that tell you how to update your game if necessary. Look around.
