I have just installed simcity on my new computer as well as series of plugins...but when I started playing the game, I found that only land was shown there were no water areas..it seems the entire terrain had been lifted up automatically ...it is the same for all maps...any idea why that is?

Are you using the diagonal bridge enabler? That lifts the terrain.

Chances are, if you download everything with NAM in the label, you've got the Diagonal Bridge Enabler installed, as Jakehh mentioned. If not, you might have installed something that included a height mod file. You could look for a file named "import" or one with a name that includes numbers followed by an "m," such as "1000m."

I believe you are suffering from what I call the "shot gunned plugins" effect. You pulled in a whole set of stuff and didn't test the plugins individually, which is not a very good way of doing this.

Each and every plugin must be individually tested as it is acquired to be sure it operates with the others in your suite. If you don't do this you find yourself in a position like the one you are currently in. You now should do a binary search of your plugins by dividing them in half, placing one half out of the game and trying it. If the problem remains, divide again, etc. If the problem has disappeared, take the reserved half, divide them in half, and put one part of them back in your game and try it. If all is OK, divide again, etc.

This operates on powers of 2, so if you have less than 1024 plugins, it will take a maximum of nine tries to find the offender. Good luck.

Next time, test the new stuff in your sandbox.

Oh, and be careful, not all plugins are compatible.

Yes, that's how it works. It raises the elevation (thereby removing the water) so that the diagonal routes can be constructed where water had previously been present. Then it must be removed for the water to reappear when the city is re-opened.
