MLB starting catcher Wilson Ramos of the Washington Nationals, was kidnapped from his home in Venezuela today by 4 gunmen according to the official twitter account of the Tigres de Araguas.

Wish nothing but the best of luck to him and his family.

In some places, kidnapping is just another way of acquiring money. Very sad, to say the least.

The report last night was that he didn't want to talk to the media yet. People here just wanted to see that he was okay. Now that we can see that he is, I hope that everyone will leave him alone until he is ready to play again.

Why are you surprised? It's his home country after all. If you were kidnapped in the U.S. would you leave the country afterwards?

And how would you protect someone from an irate family member? We can't wrap these guys in cotton wool, nor is it practical to assign a protective detail for everyone who works in a public job.
