After a long period of nothingness, I'm back. I was suffering BATer's block and couldn't think of anything to make. But now I feel in the mood for some modeling, so here is my first project (you can tell that its near completion), The Vermillion Tower.

walkway11ux.jpg

Built for the Vermillion Electronics Company, this 170 metre building was designed with the worker in mind. Every workers is a least withn' a couple metres of a window. The centre is elevator shafts and the south-west corner is a massive atrium which workers coming in from the street look up to see walkways which link offices together and are against a solid, rising wall. Across from the walkways is a solid glass wall that rises up the corner of the building. The higher up it goes, the closer the glass is to the walkway till you reach the top where the worker can actually touch it.
Now people travelling this route to get to another office can look out over the city. Behind the solid wall across from the glass is the elevator shafts and stairwells. The doors to the elevators/stairwells are on the northside of the building in the offices. The top 3 floors are where the private offices are located.
The building is an eye-pleaser. states architect Justanothersim. The rising, widening wall of glass brings the eye upwards, then downwards. It can be distracting, but fits in with the skyline very well. It will keep everyone pleased, from the inhabitants to the passer-by on the street and even to the tourist who see's the skyline for the first time from afar when entering the city. - End article.

The lobby and base will be added later, designs are still being decided. Nighlights haven't been put in place yet, those will be time consuming. 46.gif

Some unique perspectives:

Update may come tomorrow or later, have to get to sleep now. 24.gif

Great design you got there, very nicely planed.
About the base I think you should keep it a solid block, I don't think you should make a large base for it, keep it straight. Maybe some arches in the lobby? that might work.

This is a nice, conservative office tower that would fit in to any Sim City as it would into any real city. I hope you continue to develop it.44.gif

Nicely done!!  I love towers that seems simple at first glance, but are so much more.  A good base would be perfect.

I have now done the base of the building and I did put arches in, great idea debussyman! I will add furniture and desks to the lobby in the lot editor later. Roof junk will most likely come next then onto the, ughh, nightlights. Here is a full top to bottom view in low quality preview:

Now to do the roof junk this evening.

Awesome! I like the shape and colors. It's great.

However, the only issue I have with it is the bottom floor. The semicircular windows don't really match the hard, angular style of the rest of the building. I would suggest something rectangular, possibly with some angled beamwork, window divisions, or whatever to match the angled section on the front of the building. Alternately, you may stay with right angles and create something there with a stepped effect, to match the style of the rear corner of the building. I'm being so critical because I really, really want this building.

I really like some of the angles that you've got screenshots at.

@AgentUhOh7: I think I might keep the base but on the other hand you are right, it doesn't fit in with the angular wall. I could save the base and use it in another building, but i'll sleep on it before making my decision on wether to modify the base or not.

Anyways, I added the roof junk to the building now:

    Now for zoom 4:

Next: the nightlighting! (or modified base if I deside to). 1.gif

@HONG KONG: I might do the lighting this evening but I probably won't have finished lighting till tomorrow or so. Nightlight is a pain. 46.gif

@Lord Bertrum: I am working on a base, just trying to make it look nice.

Since I go into Grade 10 tomorrow, I will have less time to work on my projects but I will still update regularly when possible. I might start a new project now as well, so if I get bored with one, I can do more work on the other. 19.gif

Sorry for the lack of update, I've had a pretty bad day. 45.gif I started the base, it still needs a lot of work and I will make it taller. Ignore the arches, I'll delete those soon and the X over the entrance is a little screwed up.

I'll work on it, but now I need to rest. Hopefully tomorrow will be better than today was.

I've decided to make another building so I if I am bored with one, I can work on the other.

Here is the 210 M tower (name to be decided):

    And at zoom 4:

As you can tell, its still needs a lot of work.

btw, today was a much better day, thankfully.1.gif

You know why we have bad days? To make the good days seem even better.

Your Vermillion Tower is coming along well from what you've shone. And that new tower...with those arches, the possibilities are simply endless from a design perspective. Hope to see these developed further and someday, released, it would be a shame not to.44.gif

Sorry for the long wait, my computer was doing funky things, but fortunatly, I didn't lose anything.

Justanothersim has annouced a new skyscraper for the San Andreas skyline. The 202 m (height not comfirmed) tower will stand at 5th and Baseline Ave across from the arena. The building features four rising walls of glass and steel that end in an arch. The area inside the arches will feature either a food court or a garden. The floor count is between 40 and 50 and the base/lobby is still not designed as of today.

A comparison with Vermillion Tower (170m):

    And a close-up shot:

    <ahttp://img383.imageshack.us/img383/892/northtowercloseup3wq.jpg align=baseline>

As you can clearly tell, it still needs a lot of work.

I think I'll get rid of the little ring above the entrance doors and make the entrence doors larger.

    Both buildings look great 1.gif

I think you should leave the little ring though, perhaps make it glass or something, and ad suport cables to the roof behind it.
Maybe it would look nice if you'd fill the empty roof(the one above the ring and entrance) with a company terras/ restaurant for the employees 9.gif

    44.gifgreat work

Looking forward to Vermillion. It's a nice solid lined building and it looks pretty snazzy. I can't wait to add it to my downtown.
