SC3K Starts, but...

I'm very happy that I finally got simcity 3000 working again, but every time I start it up, there's this message that pops up in front of the SC3K window (even though it's in fullscreen) that says something like "updater.exe is requesting permission" and I can allow or cancel it, but it makes no difference, and the front screen with all the options, like "exit", "start new city", etc... plays the music and looks like the normal Simcity 3000 unlimited screen, but it's completely frozen-clicking on the buttons won't do anything!

I got this on my other laptop several times. I found clicking on the icon when putting in the disk instead of waiting for the game loading menu to come up seemed to fix it, well it did for me.

I solved it-all you have to do is delete the updater folder in the simcity 3000 files, and it never pops up again!

Yeah, this is something to do. The castanet updater tries to connect to the update servers, but the latter were retired ages ago. At this point, it has become completely useless and should be removed from the system.
