As I start my first year at college I find myself fascinated by the architectural diferences between my old high school (which itself is a great building comparing to most schools in Lisbon...) and my whole campus.

Then I started to wonder how were other campus and schools around the world. And then I decided to post it on Simtropolis.

I'm going to show some pictures of the Cidade Universitária (University City if translated literally, but it is more accurate if I translate it as the University of Lisbon campus).

The University of Lisbon is the oldest institution of educational purposes created in Portugal by D.Dinis. The first university itself is however recognized as a predecessor of the Coimbra University, with the UL itself being created in 1911 by the Republican transition government and was located in Campo Santana, Lisbon.

With the Estado Novo educational measures from the 1950's, all of the University was moved to west of Alvalade in a whole new campus, with the exception of the arts school, which is located downtown.

First the Instituto Superior Técnico, part of the Technical University in Lisbon. It is the best engineering school in Portugal, and considered one of the best worldwide.

Then the Universidade Nova de Lisboa (the University founded in the 1970's in protest against the classic University system) campus of law and economics in Campolide (our rivals )

Now the UNL campus in Campo Pequeno for social sciences

And finally, the biggest campus in Europe, I present you, the UNL campus of science and technology
