This site has major bugs and needs fixing.

This site has many bugs. First, I am a programmer and I do websites. I know bugs when I see them. When they become very bad, I try everything by what I can do by trying to see if it my browser or if it is the site. The downloads needs serious fixing. I never seen so many errors during a download process. My caches are clean, updates are current, along with all my browsers. I have downloaded from other sites, and do not have a problem. This site seems to be a problem each time I get on. When the download finally completes after several stops and resume, the site states the error message to finish my downloads. Every step is done and tried other browsers, and same message comes up.

Now, when I got back onto the site, the main page loads, but when I do a search for a certain item, nothing loads in the list part. Everything else loads, but the items. I done it in several methods. So, this site needs major fixes.

If there is a daily quota on downloads, that is one thing. But when the list loads, it should load, not disappear. If the site is up for fixing, something should be mentioned. Seriously, this site has major bugs throughout and should all be fixed and in working order. Thanks for reading.

BTW, this forum is for SimCity 4 Bugs/Issues (in the game itself). I'm sure one of the moderators (if that's what you call them) will move this to the "Simtropolis Related" forum...

I can deal with all of the other problems, but the fact that STEX uploads time out and disappear, is just terrible. That is inexcusable. I know some files will disappear in a while, like 8 years or so, but look at the LEX, nothing has disappeared since July, on here, like 13 files disappeared since July. It tic's me off I haven't gotten my computer yet, so I can't get what is lost, and then the ST said oh we're fixing it. I watched 6,783 BAT's go to 7,782 after that. Why can't they just have bigger memory, it really p's SC4Devotion users off to download something and the dependencies are from Simtropolis and it does not exist. Or look at NAM 20, that disappeared. I need it fixed.

The site has had its problems, and you should have been with us when all this transition started. I'd suggest you take some time and review the various trouble threads.

The issue with STEX time-outs has been posted and I hope solved since the notice has been removed.

indeed why are you posting in this forum this is for SC4 BUGS and glitch's not too complain about something that dosen't concern this topic watsoever :| . by the way zulu it takes time for stex files to come back everything is not instant . And also the lex isn't perfect either . Your basically argueing that bsc stuff is better cause the lex works better in the downloading part . I would like to praise the simtropolis team for there hard work and there hardest effort to provide for it's members . That arguement is simply not very plauseable is all that I am saying

This site has a huge amount of bugs. I've just ignored it up to this point.

This site has it's bugs but I am very grateful that it is here. I am used to most of the problems and I have never had a download problem. I can get to the site most of the time but sometimes I get a server over capacity message.

Anyway I know the staff is making efforts to improve the site and I think they are doing well.

Well, first Stex should check the downloading. I have used 2 computers, both with separate internet hookups. One is by dial up, and the other by wireless. The wireless uses a dsl. So, looking at that, both computers have the same problem with the downloading off this site. Other sites, we get full downloads. Here, it downloads 1.3mb sometimes a little more, but it states download complete when actually a part of the file is downloaded. Before you made changes to this site, there were no problems in the downloading. After the update on this site, there have been more downloading problems since.

Now, how can some people can get full downloads on the files, while others cannot? Other sites, when the file is fully done, my download manager will tell me when it is done. Here, it is not correct and it shuts down during the download. Unless, somewhere on Stex's side had a firewall where certain people cannot download files from their site. That is the only answer I think it is, unless Stex knows more.

If it was me, what I would do is check to see what is differ from the old site to the new site and see why the downloading coming up with errors on this site, not with the old one. There, you will probably find your answer.

As for the SC4, I started this thread, and I cannot find any forum on Stex's related problems. So, I made my voice heard. I, myself, am a computer programmer, and when I see an error, that is a disgrace, it makes people go elsewhere until the bugs are all fixed. Plain and simple. Stex should make note of these issues and fix them as soon as they can, not when they feel like it.

True, no one get paid to run this site. and we all have jobs, school, families, etc. This is a hobby.

But, if you don't like the service you are getting, we could refund your membership fee.

oh wait . . . this is something you are getting for free.

After all these years, it shouldn't surprise me but it is amazing how some people feel they can get an attitude and make demands about something that they are given for free.

Meg, someone above qualified himself as a computer programmer. Well, I think I can give him cards and spades in that having been one since 1962, and not one of the years since has been a repeat. When I retired I was working part-time as a professor of computer science.

I don't think I complain as bitterly as some of these amateurs out there. I do contribute to the performance thread, which has been showing steady improvements as the development team finds the time to debug things. Right now the site is running fairly well considering that a conversion of this magnitude is rather staggering and was essentially done by pulling the big red handle.

I think that if conclusions were a stick out the window, a lot of these complainants would leap to their deaths.

As for downloading from the STEX, which I don't do very often, I ran one a short time ago and it took almost no time for 1.4MB file for the mother nature plaza, which makes a superb centre-piece for one of my new fishing villages. It is right next to the temple of Poseidon.

Now, I have a broadband connection. I am retired and not very wealthy, but somehow I manage to find that fee for the highest possible Internet rate I can get, which is via the TV cable and fast as blazes. If people want to bit(oops) complain, they should look to their service providers before they complain about the site, because other than the slow forum response, I am not having any problems any more. Often, the source of a download is much slower than my system.
