Need help

Well, i've tried every link to do the patches, none have worked for me. i'm also kind of confused on how to get everything else to work too

any help would be appreciated.

I bought the sim city from amazon and downloaded it straight from there

I think the links to the patches aren't working because the official site is barely working at all. But I do think they are available ate Sc4devotion but I don't know exactly where. My game runs fine without the patches except for a crash every once in a while...

If you downloaded the game from Amazon, you may not need the patches. Perhaps someone else who got it from Amazon could verify that, but I thought I read where Amazon offered the fully patched game version.

You can check the version you have by checking the properties of the game's SimCity 4.exe file located in the C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps folder. If it is 1.1.640.0 or 1.1.641.0, then the game is patched. If not, you can get the patches from the link in Jack3oh3's post above. Use the 'EA Support' button on the left side of the page.

If you're looking for help on how to get downloaded items into the game, you could look through this guide. Basically, any downloaded items need to be unzipped and placed in the games Plugins folder located in the C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\SimCity 4 folder.

What kind of railway are you trying to use? Passenger rail, El Rail, GLR...?

For rails to carry Sims, they need to have a station where Sims will "get on" and one where they need to go to get jobs. Stations need to be adjacent to the tracks and have road access.
