    Here is the long overdue pic of the region of Glasnost. The neighboring cities at the time are just industrial zones but as you can see the city is getting cloes to developing suburbs

    That's looking real good, especially the region view. My only advice is to turn of the city boundaries tool, leave more to the imagination...Still real good!

    The Upper Pad$

            Glasnost's Downtown was becoming a popular living area which many sims wanted to move too. There was still a large open area to the south of the area that bothered a few of you earlier.
    The city of glasnost decided to put in another residenceial developement but more on the rich side. The area whould become know as the Upper Pads.

    Here is where the Upper Pads is located in the city. I will be doing this for now on to show which part of he city I'm working on.
    <ahttp://img260.imageshack.us/img260/3773/downtownoverview20oc.jpg align=baseline>

    Here is the large hole of no development in downtown where the Upper Pads will be built.
    There as several main oneway streets that have to make it across this area. (I have expanded them out so you can see which ones.
    <ahttp://img260.imageshack.us/img260/5424/upperpadsstart2bh.jpg align=baseline>

    Here is the start of the zoning. The area will consist of med residencial along with parks and trees.
    To enable the main oneway roads to get across the development without them destroying the appel to the area I tunneled them under. You can see the tunnels through the pic and also the development has noly oneway in or out and that is in the center where the tunnels come up for one square.
    <ahttp://img260.imageshack.us/img260/1594/upperpadsbeingbuilt5zw.jpg align=baseline>

    The area is all zoned, just waiting for people to move in now.
    <ahttp://img260.imageshack.us/img260/1716/upperpadszoned1ep.jpg align=baseline>

    A closeup of the area developed near the center. Two main oneway tunnels can be seen on the bottom of the picture.

    I agree with Gingerblokey that your use of tunnels is very interesting and definitely gives Glasnost a unique feel! I really wonder how that small patch of residential will grow, so I'd love to see that in a future update.. 9.gif

    Excellent things about this update which should be kept up: The good use of tunnels and bridge's.

    Passable things about this update which could be improved: Perhaps add a bit more realism into it.

    Nice mix of green and residential. And indeed a lot of tunnels.
    I like that regional shot with the highrises combined in one place and then mid and low rise around it. I just haven't seen any farms yet ...

    Great work!

    The Building of Neon Beach

        Thx for the comments everyone. It helps me to continue to play the game (which at times could get boring) and in return you get more updates.

        This update is the construction of Neon Beach in glasnost. After the construction of the Glasnost Harbor Bridge people flocked to the new open land right on the beach.The city wants this area to be mostly residential but we will see. The city had some funding for some canals that would cut there way through the area to allow a nice area to build houses on water.

    Here is where Neon Beach is located in the city of Glasnost.
    <ahttp://img401.imageshack.us/img401/2104/overviewofglasnostsouthbeach5r.jpg align=baseline>

    This is right after Glasnost Harbor Bridge was built. This allowed a new area to develope along with a new way of getting to downtown FAST.
    <ahttp://img430.imageshack.us/img430/7679/glasnostharborbridge4fj.jpg align=baseline>

    Here is Neon beach in its natural form.
    <ahttp://img430.imageshack.us/img430/9944/sbstart2ks.jpg align=baseline>

    I wanted the level of the earth to be as close to the ocean level as it could. This is how I did it. It took alot of time but its a good method.
    <ahttp://img407.imageshack.us/img407/7052/sblevelingoff5ei.jpg align=baseline>

    The roads and  canals are for the most part are built. I wanted traffic to flow smothly so i put in oneway roads. The area might become a congested area in the future.
    <ahttp://img401.imageshack.us/img401/4857/addingstreetsandcanal4qt.jpg align=baseline>

    Some zoned area now. I hope the area does well.

    Here is Neon Beach today. Thx for looking, Mason.

    Thx for the commet da_sim_dude. I want to develope Neon Beach to look kind of like South Beach in Miami. South Beach in Miami was a run down part of town untill people re-invested money in the old Art Deco buildings. Now it is the prime real estate of Miami.

        Neon Beach might take the same root but im not sure. None of the buildings in that sector of town were ploted.

    Every City Needs a Tower

        Glasnost Tower was built to give better communication for the bigger businesses that are moving into town and as an observation tower for it's citizens.
