Downloading Plopable models ?

hey im new to this site, ive been downloading some of the buildings on here, their amazing !

just wondering, the plopable versions...do they need to be placed in a separate folder ? how do they work ?

No, everything you download should be placed in or in a subfolder of your plugins folder in My Documents. Most plopable buildings an be found in the landmarks menu. Some are functional, just like the Maxis businesses, but others are just for eyecandy or suit another purpose.

You can put any plugin directly in your plugins folder. This is rather disorganized and not recommended.

I usually suggest that you have a c:\downloads folder with a substructure that shows where you got it. For example:

c:\documents\downloads\NAM or c:\documents\downloads\pegasus\SPAM and so on.

Then in your plugins, with the exception of the extra cheats dll, use a similar structure: viz.

c:\documents\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Plugins\NAM or ... \Plugins\pegasus\SPAM etc.

This keeps the two folders in alignment, and makes it easy to replace a mod if there is an update to one of them. Because of program considerations the extra cheats dll file must be directly under ...\Plugins.

Never put anything in the game residency in c:\program files. Things in there get lost of you have to do a reinstall.

There are a few caveats depending on which copy of the game you have. Did you download it or have it on CD?
