Or have I not paid nuff attention. But I'm wondering do the hospital capacities relate to the same as schools? When they are done with school it goes down. When the sims are healthy do they still stay in the hospital? Because I thought some would get healthy and not need a doctor. But while the school capacity decreases the hospitals stay the same unless the sims move out or die.

School occupancy decreases because the students graduate, and the city population ages, so there aren't as many new students coming in. Eventually, the elementary schools end up almost empty in a mature city. But the proportion of sick Sims remains relatively constant. Sims check out of the hospital, but other Sims check in.

I review the budget panel for Health and Education occasionally and adjust. Yes, hospital populations do decrease, but I don't reduce funding unless it has dropped by at least 50%. Schools need fresh blood, and if they mature out, I demolish them. I won't pay for a school with less than 10 pupils. They can always bus to another school.

Be careful of maturing neighborhoods. Sims age out and die, so you can get abandonments if you don't encourage immigration. As I keep saying, it is all a balancing act.

So a new strategy at hand. So that means I will have to look at the resident age of a zone and if they are old and the schools are useless should I throw a library or something there after I demolish the school?

Generally, I just plop up to five libraries as my residential areas grow, and then as soon as my population hits 34,000 (and my libraries are in good shape) I'm eligible for the Main Library, which covers the whole city. The same goes for museums and the Major Art Museum, followed by the Opera House, although you need only four museums to trigger those rewards, and these last two rewards require a combined R$$ and R$$$ population of 12,000 and 48,000, respectively. Also, the minimum Mayor Rating required for these three rewards is 37, 45, and 52,respectively.
